On Sunday, rather than take a ship tour (we had been to key West twice before, wife, daughter and I went to a parrot rescue. It was an easy walk from Mallory Square and called "Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden". It's address is 518 Elizabeth street. We sat around in the back yard in comfortable chairs and chatted with Ms. Forrester ( a noted Rainforest ecologist) about parrots - surrounded by about a dozen beautiful parrots in large cages. she brought out several (she has about 24 of many species) to visit with us. Fascinating discussions and the birds participate! It is highly rated on Trip Advisor.

It is also near the Key West Cemetery with its quirky and historical (some those lost at the sinking of the Maine in Havana harbor) tombs.
