WOO HOO we have just booked our first Carnival cruise and our first cruise in the Caribbean, on Carnival Fascination were we will celebrate our first wedding anniversary

Question re excursions We are embarking and disembarking in Barbados however our flight back to the UK is not until 8.30pm and we dock at 8am Do Carnival offer excursions on Disembarkation day that take your luggage and drop you at the airport after the excursion? I cant find any info on this

Also I understand Carnival have an Elegant night/ formal night would there be two on a 7 night cruise? Also how formal do they get in the Caribbean Ive only cruised the Med and they tend to be quite formal affairs with long ball gowns for women and tux or suits for men is this the same in the Caribbean?

You can be as dressed up as you want. Occasionally, there is an older couple who are in formal wear. A nice suit or a pretty dress is great. There are ample opportunity to get a photo all dudded up.

You can also wear your military uniform if that applies.

When you step off the elevator or out of a venue don't STOP in the way of everyone. Don't congregate in groups in the passageways.

There are many activities, don't try to do them all. Enjoy trivia.

Please take a look at my two reviews in my tag line. We did a disembarkation excursion and that was the best idea I ever had for a cruise (except to purchase Cheers!) ;-)

We also went to Barbados and you'll see my review of that below.

The 2017 review discusses the dress code I experienced on elegant nights.

You're going to have a fabulous time!

Carnival's "elegant " night is nothing like being formal on a European Med cruise!! Some folks dress up but all that is actually required for men is to wear slacks and a shirt with a collar. Women wear anything from nice slacks and a glam top to lovely dresses. Some men wear suits or sports coats with a shirt and tie but it is NOT required. You can dress in a way that makes you comfortable.

Sorry to hijack your post, but this itinerary (with Dominica instead of a sea day) was the cruise my husband and I were married on (when the Destiny was there instead of the Fascination.)This continues to be our favorite itinerary 11 years later. We were on the Fascination in March for a B2B and had an awesome time. Hope you have a great time!!

In the Fall......the demographic is much older. Fares are also much cheaper, or they are here.

My husband, on formal night wears black slacks, white shirt and a black sweater. Son-in-law

wears a light Jacket. It can be Cold in the MDR,so we, daughter, grandchild and me, wear a sweater, or bring a wrap. We live in Florida, and consider 60 degrees to be "cool".

Lower than that is downright cold.

We like Trivia. We see the shows. We donate to the casino some, We have sailed on every major line in the USA ( excluding the all inclusive ones)'

we like Carnival best because there is always something to do, the ships are very clean, and I like the food better.

Hope you have a great Trip.

Happy first anniversary!

While Carnival does offer Barbados excursions, I believe they only offer them when a ship stops there as a port of call and not as a port of debarkation. If you notice on Carnival's website for Barbados excursions, on the left column, the option for an airport transfer with excursion is grayed out, showing it is not available. You might inquire onboard at Guest Services or the Shore Excursion Desk if you don't have anything worked out by then (GS usually sells airport transfers while the Shore Excursion Desk sells excursions--so check both.)

Here is a rundown of Carnival's dress code. Carnival calls their formal nights "cruise elegant" because it isn't very formal at all. You should have 2 cruise elegant nights on a 7 day cruise.

Enjoy your cruise!

It's summer weather in the Caribbean year round....bear in mind that Bahamas are NOT Caribbean, so it could be cooler there, if that's on your itinerary. Otherwise, it may be windy outside at night, but it's not cold...even in Feb!

Seems like the A/C is different on every cruise, so I always pack a sweater that can be used with my nice clothes as well as a fleece hoodie for watching movies under the stars or walking the outer decks in the evening. The theaters and dining room are always coolest for me as far as the inside of the ship.

Not sure about excursions...Formal night is what you make it. Some ppl wear the absolute least as they don't like dressing up. However, my family/friends and i, dress in gowns, 3 piece suits, etc.. I've seen a couple who dressed in time period costumes sooooo whatever you want your pictures to look like have at it.
