Mrwheels29 Posted February 25, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2009 its a nice idea however don't expect most of the staff to understand. I was on the 2/7-2/14 orchestra trip in the caribbean and found that mostly the entertainment staff 8 people and some of the line cooks maybe 11 and 3 waiters spoke italian the singing line cook was the best italian while mixing things singing opera and regular songs. Yes you are spot on MrWheels. Only entertainment team, officres, reception and tour desk staff are Italain- the majortiy of the crew don't understand Italian at all or not well and hail from the 4 corners of the globe. nicegal Posted March 1, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 1, 2009 We were on the Melody in November where most of the crew are Italian, and I took Italian lessons on board. I have continued to study via cd courses (Linguaphone etc) and have found a fantastic source of help online, at www.transparent.com On the Melody the Italian crew members were absolutely thrilled when I spoke to them in their language, well, my version of it. I got several extra desserts for my pains. :D
