The Official HMC Turquoise Cabana Thread

Ok, I figured somebody had to do it ;)

So it seems that many of us have booked the Turquoise Cabana at Half Moon Cay for upcoming cruises, as have so many CCers before us, and based on their excellent reviews I am 'dam' sure we're going to enjoy it!

HeatherinFlorida brought up the excellent point of leaving a little 'treasure' behind in the cabana for the next occupants - that would make a fun little game, yes? So, the question is...exactly what? A small 'guestbook' for fellow CCers to leave their greetings, a lucky casino chip or similar small item, or....?

Feel free to post the date you'll be occupying "our" lovely corner of paradise and if you have any ideas for our little secret 'treasure' :D

Silly me...forgot to post my own info (at least for those who have sigs turned off!)...

We'll be there on the December 10, 2006 sailing (calling in at HMC on December 16) with friends who we are cruising with.

Also thought I'd post a link to Ziggy's excellent photos of HMC and the cabanas, including our beloved Turquoise. You can find them here:

Thanks SarahQ for starting the thread. I've been wrapped up trying to get something productive done today and not celebrate my cabana too much!!!

We are sailing 12/16 and enjoying our cabana on the 22nd of December.

I like the idea of a book but how to hide it and protect it from the weather . . . hmmm

Has anyone ever done a GEO Cache? It's similar but it's a treasure hunt using a GPS. When you find the treasure you leave something, take something and sign the register. Then you leave a note on a website to record your visit. We could do something similar with this thread and track the 'activity' with our 'treasure'. Even if it means that we note that we found the hidden 'treasure'.

Blessings!

I forgot to add....

Thanks to SarahQ for starting this thread!!!

And thanks to everyone who posted information and pictures concerning the cabanas. My gosh, I can't imagine taking a cruise without knowing about CC! If we did...we'd be lost or at least miss out on so many things!

Frogs...your idea sounds neat. I hadn't heard of it before, but it sure sounds like a good idea.

I'm going to live vicariously as all you guys enjoy "my" cabana;) . It might help when you post to put the actual day you'll be on Half Moon Cay ... not just when your cruise starts!

The air conditioner does project into the back of the cabana so on top of that is a possibility for a hiding place:) .

I think this is a fun idea! Hope it works out for you!!!

We took the path straight up from our cabana. One of my pictures is taken from the path just above the cabana and not far from the rest rooms. We would just step off our steps, turn right, and go through a little opening in the dune. Then a right on the path and the restrooms are very close.

Sounds like fun! I booked the Turquoise for Oct 13th (last port on the Volendam Repositioning Canal Cruise). Didn't realize when I booked it this morning it was going to be the most popular one but guess we've all all been reading the same posts (Thanks Heather!) Checked the Cruise Ship Calendar and at this point looks like we may be the first HAL ship back there after "that other line" uses it for the summer. So if we come up with something I can try to get it started.

Thanks. There was a time when I wanted to know where the bar is located...now it's the restroom! lol :)

I found the picture you were talking about. From your pics (and they great-thanks for posting them), it looks like they put the clam shells not directly in front of the cabana, so you'll have a bit of a walkway to the ocean. At least that's what it looks like to me.

Thought I'd join in... We had Turquoise Cabana in July--LOVED it! It's also a short walk to the BQ at lunch. HMC is the most beautiful spot! Loacation of the turquoise cabana is great. Enjoy! I love the idea of leaving little treasures behind:)

Did the cabana guy bring your BBQ lunch to the cabana, or did you have to go get it yourself? I remember reading on a thread where the CB did this, but on another thread it said this had been discontinued, and the CB only went for drinks.

We're booked in the turquoise for Jan 19, 2007 (Zuiderdam Jan 13 sailing).

For the first time, we're cruising with friends and they've never been on HAL or to HMC. Methinks they're gonna have a good time. (And we have suites 5186 and 5187 booked too).

The list is a great idea. But let's get to Oct before before rushing into next year:D

Hey Frogs looks like we're almost neighbors! We're just south of Dayton in Springboro.

I'm so jealous of you! :)

I wish we could have cruised this fall...but it's not to be.

I understand. We were actually supposed to be on an Alaska Cruise tour this week and next that we booked almost a year ago but had to cancel a few weeks ago because DH Health Issue. So this is the replacement cruise and Oct seems far enough away for me! I don't even want to think about waiting until next year!

....January 3rd, I think?? We leave FLL on Christmas Eve and we are at HMC the day before we go back to FLL  so I think it's the 3rd! Anyway...it's the day the Holiday Cruise of Dec/Jan 2006/2007 is at Half Moon Cay!
