Are we buying "a pig in a poke"?

still no information on dining venues, dining options, most public spaces, stateroom storage, so many things.

Is there any idea when some of these key details will be revealed?

See the link on "Edge Fever" on this same board.

I will be more specific ... still no information on main dining room (will there be or won't there?), specialty restaurants, Aqua Spa Cafe (yes or no?), Cafe al Bacio, buffet, mast grill, others?

Stateroom features .,,. Closets? How many and how large? Shelf above the clothes rod? Drawers? Open shelving? Over-the-bed cupboard?

Kids Club? Where?

Will there still be photo displays or only kiosks?

Bars....martini bar? World class? Somewhere for dancing?

I agree, think they would have said something about this by now. I would guess there will definitely be a MDR since can't figure what any other options would be on the ship. Also, if we check any reservations we have dining type and times set.

I agree with everyone here. Could this possibly be why bookings are being turned back? I am concerned, and yes we are booked, that they are making changes to the interior and don't want to "roll out" any definite designs. Now, this would be a problem with the ship "hitting the water" in a week or so. Way to much "unknown" right now for me and it's not easy making plans for hotels, flights for people, and other issues when there is so much unknown. We already booked a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. I didn't even consider this until I was looking for the heck of it and most of the nicer ones are already sold out. Now, the Holiday Inns, Marriotts, etc. don't open up yet but you never know what the prices will be. Right now they are way out of sight. Having sailed many years from Ft. Lauderdale we have watched the increases, especially during peak season.

Wish Celebrity ( or RCI) would get off their butts and give us more information. All the hype and then dead stop! Now, we won't cancel. We are anxious to see what this is all about. May be one and done but still, more information forthcoming or at least a date would be welcomed right now.

I guess I’m one of the few folks who loves the mystery. We have an early Edge voyage booked and are quite excited. For us, not having every inch of a ship be well known and documented on YouTube and Instagram is more thrilling. Like the good ‘ole days, when you boarded a ship and were surprised by each turn.

Closet space will work itself out one way or another. And there will be plenty of bars. :)

I'm with you.

No way I'm going on a cruise until I know exactly what the closet is like. Come on Celebrity, get us the info that matters!

Thanks for your comment. I agree with you! If one signs up for a new design/ new build ship over a year in advance then one should expect that not all details will be released immediately. The fun is in the anticipation! Edge will ultimately be beautiful with plenty of bars and dining experiences. Yes closets too. Why so much angst about this stuff by some? If one wants everything well defined and buttoned up, then go on an existing ship and wait for the Edge reviews before deciding.

It's more like two years in advance. So they do the initial reveal in March, I booked in April, Eden reveal in June, and then...nothing, and then...nothing. It's now mid-January. Still nothing new. (Meeting space reveal means nothing to anyone already booked) Additional positive reinforcement every few months for booked passengers would be really reassuring. Lack of ANY more details - doesn't have to be everything - is really frustrating!

Ditto! 😊

We booked the QM2 when reservations first opened in 2002, two years in advance. Cunard's agents didn’t even have descriptions of the stateroom categories, only their location on a deck plan! But people were excited to be the first to sail the inaugural season on a new and innovative ship. No one worried about closets...

I am more like a kid waiting for his/her birthday, Christmas or other holidays where presents are involved - I want to know what's in the packages (dining venues, entertainment space, etc.), but love the mystery and excitement of pending discovery and want that excitement to last.

At this point I don't think they will announce anything that will cause me to change my reservations, so I will wait patiently (more or less). :D

Understand your frustration on nothing new. But what positive reinforcement do you need and what are you looking to decide? Reassuring about what? That the ship is indeed being built or that it will have bars and restaurants? I'm just trying to understand what some here are looking for and why it should influence their booking. We are a long way to final payment and I am convinced that everything (mostly?) will be revealed by then. So why would some cancel now due to not having all the info? Just wait a bit.

Well, one concern involves dining. There are some who need the security of fixed dining so that they can work with one waiter to take care of allergies or other special needs. Will there be a Fixed Dining option? No one knows.

Will there be a card room? Many people like to organize games and tournaments. Will there be a dedicated space for them?

Because these are definitely available on other ships sailing equally appealing itineraries at better prices, it makes it difficult to make informed decisions.

Dining is a legitimate concern. If we were not booked in AQ class with BLU somewhere on board, we'd be more concerned. Without BLU, If they have a dine around plan where you move around or have no set dining rms...we'd be less keen on this ship.

Also curious to learn if the EDGY Eden type themes are being carried to other venues on board. That would not be for us...Hoping for a great spa...relaxing spaces, nice cozy ( non atrium) music venues for jazz, guitaists, piano player and classical music. Small indoor movie theatre.

We did get the early pricing so our curiousity about the ship means we'll go...and if they mess up the S and M class ships in their refurbs, we may become Edge fans!

We don't mind waiting but it'd be nice to know...

It is all guesswork at this point, but as far a dining is concerned I would not be too worried. Celebrity likes a homogeneous fleet. Much of what they have announced so far is "moving the chairs" vis-a-vis S-class (e..g., Silhouette):

The Porch ---> Raw-Bar-On-Five (with the Orange Elevator [OE] providing al fresco dining, at times)

Lawn Club Grill ---> Garden Grill/Dining on the Edge (with the OE providing al fresco dining, at times)

Cafe al Bacio ---> Eden Cafe

Tuscan Grill(room-with-view)/Qsine(quirky eats) ---> Eden Restaurant

Luminae ---> Luminae

Mast Cafe --->Mast Cafe

World Class Bar ---> Eden Bar

Looking at the remaining empty spaces, one could reasonably assume:

Edge Dining Room Decks 3/4 Aft (just like S-class)

Blu Deck 5 (just like S-class)

Spa Forward of Solarium with Spa Cafe in Solarium

Theatre Decks 4, etc. Forward

Sky Lounge Upper Deck Forward

Casino on Deck 4

Martini and Ensemble Lounges on Deck 5

Wishful thinking:

With Tuscan/Qsine moving to Eden, an additional Specialty Restaurant like a real Steak House (perhaps a Don Shula Restaurant, since she sails out of FL?)

Cozy Spaces:

I would not count on that! They already announced Guitarist-in-a-tree (Garden) and Eden. Don't forget silent disco.

Their marketing (to affluent 30-somethings) so far does not connote "relaxing spaces, nice cozy ( non atrium) music venues for jazz, guitaists, piano player and classical music.".

Wishful thinking:

Now that there is a dedicated Retreat (i.e., Suite-Class) lounge, could Michael's Club revert back to a cabaret setting? They will need Eden-istas (whatever they call them) for the Eden Xperience, so could the other performers --- especially singers --- do their thing at Michael's (all this instead of a Production Show. I don't think anyone would miss Topper)?

Would expect the first year of Edge would be for the adventurous, rather than those who want a classic cruise experience.

As stated, no inside info here just random musings, on a chilly Maryland afternoon.

Interesting thoughts - I agree that this ship may be more for the adventurous at first. I am assuming that some things will work for us and others won't, but we will enjoy trying it all. We will then settle into our favorite niches for future cruises, just as we do now on S and M class ships.

I'm not too concerned about the dining at this point since on cruises we have booked to date we will have Blu or Luminae and know our problem will be trying to choose where to eat (BBQ, seafood, special dinners on the MC overlooking the ocean, to-be-revealed specialties, likely a newly-designed OVC and maybe even the interesting Eden dining vs. our regular dining room may be a tough choice). I do hope the MDR or lack there of is revealed soon for those who wish to have that info. I'm sure if you have special dietary needs, it is a concern.

Thanks, MD, for your random musings - it does help on these cold winter days...

OK understand your points but I'm of the opinion that Celebrity Edge will have a MDR or equivalent with multiple dining options including fixed times. Parent corp RCI on RCCL Anthem OTS tried Dynamic Dining (fixed times but rotation through four restaurants). It had to be dropped from negative customer feedback. I don't think Edge will be without dining structure and fixed times, as well as flexible times for those that prefer them. Whatever the dining structure you will most likely get to request certain waiters and special foods for allergies. Why would they not accommodate this?

I’m a new cruiser and have been starting to peruse the Celebrity and RCI threads as I plan my future trips because my first cruise was on MSC Seaside last week and it was an effing disaster. (So obviously never trying MSC again)

That said, we learn from our mistakes, and those of others (like me in this scenario), so I’m just going to throw out some new concerns for those sailing on the early Edge sailings: how do you know that the toilets will work? (Ours didn’t; nor did many others.) What about the ventilation systems? (Pretty sure something died in ours...)

By the time the early Seaside reviews came in, it was too late for those sailing on the subsequent sailings to cancel.
