Anchorage to Whittier rail to ship luggage

I am planning to take rail from anchorage to Whittier and take the 26 glacier cruise before boarding princess cruise. 26 glacier cruise is saying that I can put princess luggage tags on in anchorage and the rail luggage handlers will get luggage to cruise porters. I am booking rail independent. Has anyone done this? Reliable?

In the past this has been the procedure. When the season starts. simply call direct and verify the continued service. .

I took independent rail 2 years ago, and that is the way it worked. Much easier for them to hand it all off to the cruise ship than having individual people collecting their luggage.

I have spoken to both 26 Glaciers and Alaska Rail this week and they confirm that this procedure is in place for this year. If you have a carry-on that you don't want sent to the ship, you may take it on the train with you and then store it in the 26 Glaciers office for the afternoon.

They use to - they still might.

They have Alaska Railroad luggage tags in the Terminal. You will have to speak with a rep in the Terminal.
