RCCL Casino (Grandeur) questions

We are sailing on RCCL for the first time. We love the casino and wanted to find out if they pay out in coins, tickets are do you have to set up a players account with your on board card. We have cruised alot but never on RCCL and want to know how their system works.

Does RCCL have slot tournaments like the other cruise lines. Does anyone know what the entry fee is as well.

Thanks for your help.;)

Hi,

Since DW and I are table players, not slot players, I can't say for sure whether they are completely cashless, though I believe that they are.

When we were on the Navigator OTS in October 2008, there was slot tournament. Entry fee was 20 dollars. We were playing blackjack with the husband of the second prize winner.

Shalom, Andy.

Hello. I have never heard of a cruise line casino to not have a slot tourney. You can bet that they will. Expect tickets rather than coins on rccl. You don't need a players card to play in their casino. Bring money. They will be happy to take it from ya. Good luck.

Thank you for your quick responses. I really like the ticket system better than the bank program. Does anyone know if they have the machines to redeem your tickets or do you have to go to the cashier.

Does anyone know if they have Jackpot Party on the Grandeur. It's one of my favorite machines. I love the double diamond run machines but they are getting really hard to find anywhere.(5 cent ones). Any machines are a not miss on board?

Just off a 14 day repo on the Grandeur.

Not sure about that particular machine, but the slots are cashless.

They have a machine that cashes tickets, but it was broken when we cruised.

A comment on tightness of their slots:

Our CC group did a slot pull - 36 of us in for $10 each, so $360. We started by playing a single machine that is to the left of the row of the Wheel of Fortunes - its kind of behind a post. Anyway, we played $3 pulls, so that was 120 times. We never hit for more than $10, and ended at $162. We put that $162 into the middle WOF machine, and played until out of money - about 100 pulls total - on that one we never hit enough to even spin the wheel once! Either an incredible run of bad luck, or extremely tight slots. I think that over 200 pulls total is a decent statistical sample, and my guess on total return would be around 50%!

I know I've seen these machines hit on other occasions, but still, enough to make me swear off ship-board slots.

BTW, the Grandeur has one of the rare $2 big-screen video blackjack machines - seem to pay much better that the slots. Just my superstition, but the dealers change, and the machine seems to hit best when the blond with the serious cleavage is dealing!

PSCruiser: Thank you for the insight on the slots. I play for fun and usually stick to the 5 cent machines. We are taking our son (along with other family members) to celebrate his 18th birthday and he plans on gambling legally for the 1st time. He would probably enjoy the video poker with the blonde very much !

Are there any don't misses on the ship since you had plenty of time to explore.

Any information is highly appreciated!
