water carried on board

Is NCL Charging for tap water now?

The ships tap water is more pure than the stuff in the bottles.

Just take an empty bottle onboard and refill it from your tap.

It will save you a lot of money.

No charge for tap water, but they do take advantage of those who are "addicted" to bottled water -- and ignore the fact that ships' water is perfectly good.

In other words, a "Not paying attention tax".

My favourite American writer once said "it is the duty of every intelligent person to take advantage of a fool".

Maybe he was right?

Only if you have a failsafe way of identifying those who are fools as opposed to those who aren't very bright or have minor mental handicaps. Remember that while it may be a sin to be foolish (St. Paul pointed that one out, so it's not a new idea) it's no sin to be not very bright.

You may want to ask on proper board.

I can tell you on Princess, water and soda can be put in with other checked luggage.

Well, on NCL as of July 15, 2016, water and soda can NOT be brought onboard and will be confiscated.

If X-ray shows suspicious containers in checked luggage the passenger will be notified to come to the 'naughty' room so the luggage can be opened and the container inspected and possibly confiscated.

By the way, I may have not been clear. You can attach a baggage tag to a case of water or 12 pack soda (reinforced with duct tape) and check it in at the curb.

Sounds like a reason not to use that line again

Ship's tap water is free. Soda is not a necessity. No reason to avoid NCL for that.

Carnival also does not allow bottled water to be brought aboard.

Not on NCL anymore. And Carnival also no longer allows bottled water to be brought aboard.

Not at Port Canaveral. Better put the water/soda in luggage if you want to check it.
