Just got off the Ovation.

Last day thought I drop by the Next Cruise station for some info.

For the cruise on some future date this is what they offer.

20% off on my TA price. My TA price is already 20% lower than the ship RCL website price.

Also instant $200 OBC. Since it is the last night already l cash out the $200 in the ship casino. No gamble required. There is a 5% or $10 charge to do this.

So all in I am paying about 40% of the RC price. Paying $400 gratuities included for 3N on Mariner balcony cruising solo.

Hi, i received the same deal on Quantum last week. If you have a fixed date for travelling it's less 20% and a future date is less 10%. The deposits are non refundable. The OBC is $200.00 and is also non refundable. In addition i received $100.00 OBC for the current cruise. All up it isn't a bad deal.

When the changes came out I remember reading something about reduced rates. Here's the wording from the website. Sounds like you are supposed to get dollars off OR OBC not both?? I also remember that they were doing away with the instant OBC, so much for that. Perhaps on board bookings have lagged since then and they are changing it up

NEXTCRUISE DOLLARS OFF AND OBC PROMOTION: Guests who make a NDN Booking are eligible for our NextCruise dollars off promotion or Future Onboard Credit (up to $500 per stateroom depending on length of voyage and type of stateroom or suite). Guests who make a NDN Booking at least 6 months in advance of the sail date are also eligible to receive up to $100 per stateroom in NextCruise dollars off or Future Onboard Credit (depending on length of voyage and type of stateroom). Guests who select our refundable fare option are eligible for a Future Onboard Credit (up to $150 per stateroom depending on length of voyage and type of stateroom.)

It would actually be worthwhile to book a cheap3 day cruise just to be able to book longer ones at 20% off if that were the case.

I can see Ellen's cruise count going up.

Oh boy, those phone reps better be ready.

When they say the deposit is on-refundable, does that preclude you from switching the ship or date of the cruise you book or just from getting your money back? I will be on cruise in December and want to book a European cruise for 2019 but those schedules are not out yet. I already have one booked for 2018.

I didn't follow that post that said 20% for a fixed date and a future date is 10% less?

Each change of ship or sailing date costs $100 per person.

Some things in this post are very confusing.....namely -- How could a TA be offering a price that is 20% lower than the RCL website pricing? Then on top of that, another 20% discount being offered by Royal?

How is this even possible? I fully understand the concept of non refundable deposits and instant OBC's (which I thought were discontinued), which further adds to my confusion with what the OP has written.

TA can and do offer prices lower than RCI. The special pricing is apparently on board only - like some of the specials that were available on Irma affected cruises.

I think some are missing the point this is China sailings only and the rules probably don't apply anywhere else.

You and Clarea offer some of the best information and I trust and believe what you say. I have priced cruises prior to sailing with my TA with the intention of going to the NextCruise Ambassador to look into booking that cruise....NEVER has the price been lower than what the website or my TA could give us. Sure they were offering a smaller deposit and the OBC as the incentives for booking while onboard. Now, the lower deposit has been eliminated as a reason to book onboard. I don't look at the OBC as a reduction in the cost of the cruise, in and of itself.

A TA can give other incentives to book with them, more OBC, or pay for tips or pay for a cruisers drink package....but the price of the cruise was never one of the things that they could 'discount' -- unless when sailing on an Asian cruise, those NC Ambassadors don't abide by company policies.....and is it just to book another Asian cruise or for ANY cruise, from ANY port?

Most TAs do as yours in that they provide OBC and other perks but there are some that provide that perk as an up front discount from MSRP.

Sounded like the discount only applied to limited Asian sailings and only if booked on board.

Again, something like this was reported on Empress, Oasis, Allure and maybe others. It was a one time thing caused by all the hurricanes.

Don't go looking for this - a bit of a unicorn situation.

I will answer this the best I can. I went to the NC station with no intent of making any booking. The guy ask fr my cabin number. Check his computer and knows which country I am from and the TA I book from and must know the price the TA is selling to me.

I went back to my cabin and check my TA price and RC website price. With that I went back to the guy and sure enough it is 20% less than myTA price. RC price is 20% higher than my TA price.

So I decided to book for a date I am comfortable with.

The one draw back was I thought I would lose the $200 OBC. but the guy told me I could use it in the casino. So that seal the deal for me. May not be able to post some more now as I am boarding a plane.

My DH and I have used the Next Cruise desk often enough....yes, they can see what TA I have used (if any -- since some cruises we went on we booked directly with Royal and no TA involved), but they were NEVER able to see the historic prices that we had paid.....so I question the truth to the statement being made of "must know the price the TA is selling to me".
