It's a fabulous cruise. Enjoy. If you have time for a really long, but facinating, book you should read David McCullough's Path Between Seas. It gave me so much to think about going through the Canal. They have a 40 minute video loop that he did years ago but the book is worth the read.

Thank you, I will read this. Which tours at the ports of call or pre-cruise would you recommend?

I second the book recommendation. What an amazing feat, and not accomplished until they were able to control malaria.

I agree that the book is excellent. Only one minor correction, the issue was controlling yellow fever, not malaria. If you are concerned, it is relatively easy, although not inexpensive to get yellow fever vaccine. We had to have it for a recent Amazon cruise. It is really not an issue for a Panama Canal cruise today.

Thanks for the correction. I read it while traversing the Canal on the Wind Star many years ago. It was our first Windstar cruise and we've only cruised with them since that time. (Barely) passing under the bridge at low tide during the on-deck barbecue was the highlight.
