Marina and Casino opening hours

I've now read that the marina is only open a couple of times per trip and only for a short period of time. This is really disappointed as all the glossy brochures and web site emphasise this as being a real plus for the Paul Gaugin. Could someone please confirm this for me.

Also is the casino open every night including the stopover nights in Bora Bora and Moorea?

Many thanks.

As the PG website states: "The water-sports marina is available in select ports and subject to weather conditions and local restrictions. Swimming from the watersports marina is prohibited."

It's really a safety issue, if the water isn't 'flat' it isn't safe to open the door.

As the PG website states, "Hours of Operation: The Casino is closed in port due to Customs regulations. Hours may vary, according to itinerary."

I recently saw a specific schedule for the water sports platform on the website by each itinerary. I don’t recall exactly but it wasn’t open much. I was hoping to windsurf which is mentioned in some promotional materials and other pages of the website. On the specific schedule the only equipment mentioned as being allowed were kayaks and stand up paddle boards.

Yes I know now. From their glossy brochures and advertising I was lead to believe that this was an amazing feature of going on this ship. I now find the marina is only open 3 times in 14 days which is very disappointing.

The marina is a fantastic feature on the ship for both divers and non divers. Ship dives leave from the marina. Non divers will have opportunity to use the kayaks and paddleboards in a couple of (sheltered) ports. If you are not within a reef, you do not want to be using a kayak or paddleboard as you could end up with another kind of adventure. Definitely not at the Marquesas. The marina is also where you get your snorkling equipment for the week including a mesh bag and a snorkel vest if you desire.

Marina hours are probably not offered in Bora Bora because the equipment is taken to the motu, (DO NOT miss the motu in BB); same for Taha'a. Between Huahine and Moorea, would do it in the Moorea as lagoon more confined and the photo ops amazing.

Windsurfing is not longer offered. Probably a good thing as I remember being on a bridge tour a long time ago when there were calls coming in from tender pilots re spotting a passenger on one extremely far from the ship and likely in trouble; I believe it was Raiatea, (within the reef).

Have a great cruise!
