Well, I got the email to pre register & had a look & thought mmm!

A friend has just been to the Fjords & I just loved looking at all the scenic photos that she posted. Even though I did a Britannia cruise in her maiden season to the Fjords but I always thought I would do another Cruise so yep doing it again far sooner than I thought I would but it will be so worth it!

And the price was actually very reasonable, I have booked the same cabin category, a deluxe balcony & I am sure the price is near enough the same as it was on the Britannia. And past guests get 10% off too plus some on board credit.

We have always been wary of booking a maiden cruise in case there is still unfinished work going on, or if something is not working properly as it has not been fully tested with all passengers on board.

Can I ask any who have been on P&O maiden cruises if problems tend to happen more than on other P&O cruises?

Hope you enjoy the cruise kikki21

I sailed on the Britannia 2 months after the maiden & didn’t note any issues. I also did a mini Cruise on the Britannia last year. I’m looking forward to those raspberry creme brûlée cocktails!

Those look great. Seems a similar concept to the Celebrity Edge infinity balcony. We are really happy with the deluxe balcony category & absolutely love the design of them. I have gone for the EE category so will either be forward right at the front or right at the back.

We have done every P&O Maiden cruise since Aurora but for some reason they did 4 maiden cruises on Aurora, one to Med ,Baltic,Norwegian Fjords and Canaries. Aurora's very first official maiden cruise it broke down around the Isle of Wight due to prop shaft problem and cruise was cancelled. Every other one we have done we never had any problems whatsoever. But dont think that you will be the first passengers on a maiden they will do a couple of trail cruises prior to maiden for staff and TAs to test everything is working and get used to everything.

Thanks for the comments on maiden cruises.

I remember the Aurora one - if I remember correctly the bottle of fizz did not break at the launch. Sounds like P&O generally have it together regards new ships overall though as that was some time back.

A pre registration guarantees you a cabin of the grade you have booked, so you will definitely get one. On Wednesday they will simply confirm which specific cabin number you have been allocated.

Just had our cabin confirmed for Iona July 4th 2020 - very pleased got the exact cabin numbers we wanted.

Oh the joy of being Caribbean tier or above! Us lesser mortals have to wait until Wednesday. Still, we have one of eight and we are happy with any of them ;)

There has been problems all day at P&O with regards to those that have pre registered and are higher tiers they have not had any confirmation or cabin numbers. In fact P&O have not contacted them at all about their bookings because of IT problems again.

Interesting. Obviously some must have slipped through, as bee-ess has received a confirmed cabin number. P&O’s IT really is less then useless. It’s been dire for years.

I’ve not had any emails confirming my cabin number but I’m ok to wait till Wednesday! Besides which there is a bit of a wait till 2020 & the good folks at Cruise Critic need to set up Iona onto the roll call list!

I have not had an email either, but then again I did not pre register for Iona.

I booked through an agent and have had confirmation from them, nothing from P&O but I have logged onto my CP this morning and all looks OK. I must admit I found the whole process with the TA very easy, had a phone call with the cabin numbers we requested confirmed at 08:20 yesterday, couldn't have been easier really.

We also were able to book the cabin we wanted and had it sorted by 9:00 yesterday. Just got a long time to wait now.

I got email confirmation from P&O today of the booking & then I will know my cabin number tomorrow. The EE option of cabin doesn’t really have loads of options & I made sure I was happy with all of them before I hit the button!

I think I waited about 2 years to sail maiden season on the Meraviglia & about 18 months for the maiden on NCL Escape.

Hope you got the cabin you wanted!! I'm sure it will be worth the wait.;)

Yes I’m delighted to say we got our first choice cabin thanks. Our contact at P&O is a superstar and never lets us down. Once I had confirmation of exactly which balcony cabin we were in I also managed to book a nearby inside cabin for our daughters as a surprise!

As a point of interest, at the same time today that I booked this 2nd cabin, the UK’s biggest P&O Cruise Specialist didn’t have any availability other than very low down aft inside cabins, which would have been miles from us. Quite a surprise, as I had been given to believe that they had preferential treatment, but clearly not so in this instance.

We’ve gone for free parking on the cheaper inside cabin (plus some OBC due to the deal I get) and have opted for full OBC plus additional (due again to the deal) on the more expensive cabin. I wonder how many people in more expensive cabins / suites have opted for free parking when they would have been better off just having OBC and booking their parking themselves at lower cost? Our contact always talks us through the options with / without parking and what it would cost us booking direct, as I am sure do all good agents and TA’s, but I suspect that’s not the case for every single person making a booking through countless different channels and new cruisers won’t know that this is an option.
