Bermuda and ship's casinos

I have received conflicting info regarding whether or not a ship's casino is open at night while we are docked in Bermuda.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge?

Trying to decide between:

Royal?

Norwegian?

Carnival?

I do want to visit Bermuda but I also want to be able to play cards at night after touring the island.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info on NCL. My TA says that none of the ships going to Bermuda have their casinos open. Don't know if she means just during the day or what.

Hoping someone went there this summer and can tell me for sure.

from what I remember, ships only have casinos open while in international waters, not while docked.

I believe with NCL the casino is open from 9 pm to 5 am while docked in Bermuda.
This. ^ Going back to 2013 I believe, Bermuda passed law allowing docked cruise ships to have their casino's open from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am.

Cruise lines can get licenses to open their casinos between 9:00 PM in the evening and 5:00 AM. Celebrity, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean for sure keep them open. I would guess Carnival does too.

Your TA is wrong. But it used to be correct. It changed a few years ago. Bermuda began licensing the cruise lines to keep casinos open for some hours while docked. You can update her.

Each ship needs to get a license to open their casino at night. I would expect that the ships that dock regularly will buy the license.

The line started complaining about lack of revenue due to the casino and the stores being closed, that they threatened to stop calling in Bermuda, so this rule was enacted.

Was on NCL Escape in June, casino opened at 9pm when in Bermuda. Not sure on closing time as we were in our room by midnight (they were still open then).

There’s nothing to do in most of Bermuda past 9pm so that’s why they allow it there, as they know tourists are not being taken away from local attractions.
