As the title says…..so excited :D Has anyone got a list of (UK) 'to do's' before embarking. We are UK based, sailing S'hamton to S'hampton so no flights. I know its a long way off but 4 years ago we moved from NZ to the UK (back home for me) and even though we started planning and packing months ahead, on the day we left were running in circles trying to finish the last minute things

Also apart from enough medication, clothes hangers and hooks, what else to take?

Congratulations on signing up for a World Cruise.

Just a quick list of additional things we bring:

- Things to personalise the cabin, which is your home for 4 months - photos of grandkids, etc.

- Small magnets and the 3M Command Strips to secure stuff to the bulkheads.

- World map to post on bulkhead with route drawn, so we can track progress

- Monthly calendar to track tours, social engagements, etc

- Binoculars

- First aid kit (DW was a Emerg/Trauma RN, so it is extensive)

- All my research on Ports of Call

- Kindles

- Laptop, portable hard drives, cables to manage and back-up photos

- Spare camera batteries, memory cards, etc.

- Powdered Gatorade for electrolytes replacement in places such as Petra

To do's before embarking:

- I thoroughly research every port - currency, exchange rate, points of interest, ship tours, private tour operators and have pre-book most excursions, both private and ship's tours

- Set up online banking so you can manage your accounts

- Usual arrangements to look after our affairs while away - daughter has power of attorney, etc

Ship gives you umbrellas and beach bag

Slippers..the ships are to big for me

In states we can nit get more than 90days worth if meds

So make sure you have scripts tonrefill them

Plus scripts if you get sick

Go on a diet as food is everywhere

Getting a prescription filled in a foreign country might be problematic. Call your insurance provider...it's been reported on this board that they will over ride the 90 day restriction. And scripts "in case" you get sick generally aren't given....too much abuse of the system.

We have also booked a world cruise on the Arcadia on the 3rd of Jan 2020 so will be watching this thread with interest!

We are on the 2020 Viking Sun World Cruise and today I was checking which berth we are using in Hong Kong. I noted we are in port the same days as Arcadia - Arcadia is at Kai Tak and we are at Ocean Terminal.

Many of the major ports post cruise ship schedules online. Hong Kong has schedules posted for both Ocean Terminal (downtown next to Star Ferries) & Kai Tak (old airport). Here is the links to both terminals in HK.

In Sydney, Arcadia anchors on day 1 and then goes to OPT at Circular Quay at 0530 day 2.
