Hotel in Venice, Italy

We will be boarding the Viking Star in Venice for a cruise to Athens, Greece in May 2018. The pre-cruise package is quite pricey so we are looking for a recommendation for a nice hotel in the area close to sight seeing destinations. Thank you.

Are you a member of any hotels? In 2013, we stayed at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice. It is a BEAUTIFUL and OLD hotel. VERY pricey .... but with my husband's status we got some perks.

Recommend: Al Ponte Mocenigo.

Very reasonable and rated high on Trip Advisor.

No bridges to cross with your luggage.

There is a Vaporetto stop close to the rear entrance.

Check out Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth: reasonable price, good breakfast included, five minute walk to San Marco, located right on canal at San Zaccaria vaporetto stop and Alialuna Blue Line boat to airport.

I too would check out the Italy Ports Of Board.

I loved hotel Antiche Figure which is on the grand canal and right across from the train station. Would stay again.

I stayed pre-cruise at the Hotel Olimpia, a Best Western property, which is close to the Piazzale Roma, transportation hub for Venice. The People Mover to the cruise port is accessed from the Piazzale, and it is also where the buses from the airport drop passengers off in the city. It's obviously an old residence that was converted into a hotel, and is located on one of the smaller canals. My room was charmingly decorated, the bathroom was very modern, the staff was pleasant and helpful, there is an elevator in the hotel, and they offer a very nice breakfast buffet. Considering how expensive hotels seem to be in Venice, I felt it was a decent value.

Also, staying a cab ride away, like on the Lido or in Mestre, is an option.

I see that one poster told you about the Best Western Hotel Olimpia. We stayed there in 2013 and it was delightful. Close to everything and the hotel had a lovely back yard for relaxing. Address is 395 Fondamenta Delle Burchiel, Santa Croce, Venice. You won't be disappointed!
