Carnival premier cruise - first-timer questions!

We are going on our first Premier Cruise in January. On the mailer it said that first time Premier cruisers get a special gift once onboard. Does anyone know what that might be?

Also, we are Platinum so we already have priority embarkation. If we go to Platinum check in will we miss handouts or information at the Premier check in area?

Thanks is advance,

Dawn

Hi Dawn! Just off a Premier Getaway on Fantasy this morning. We checked in as Platinum, not with the Premier folks, and missed nothing. All of the info will be in your cabin. Also, the gift on our cruise was 2 white Carnival Premier beach towels. Haven't unwrapped them yet, but I'm sure they're lovely. :) Other gifts from the casino included a box of cookies (SO MANY COOKIES!), a bottle of Chandon sparkling wine, 2 small bottles of water, comped steakhouse selections in the dining room, and a bottle of wine with dinner (although those last two were due to play, not being part of the Premier group).

We had a great time on our first Premier cruise - I won a drawing for $900, and hubs won one for $350. (Who knew you had to fill out a tax form for a drawing win over $600? Not this chickie! But you do.) Also had some great wins on the slots, got a bounce back offer for a comped cruise, and met some really great people. We'll definitely be doing this again. :D

Thanks for all of the info samiam0403! Glad you had such a good time on your Premier cruise. We are definitely looking forward to our cruise. Hoping that we have the good luck that you did!

We were on another great premier mid Sept on the Glory. This time we got blankets as the gift, and charging terminals as the welcome gift.

In April, we got the beach towels, & mugs as the welcome gift.

I am going on my 1st premier cruise on Glory April 7th, 2018. My boyfriend also received a premier offer so we will both get our cash and bonus gifts. I am so excited for this cruise. All I have asked for as Christmas gifts are Carnival gift cards to lower my sign and sail balance at the end of my cruise. :')

We learned real quickly to tip the servers in the casino. By day 2, we had at least one every 5 minutes asking to refill our drinks. By day 3, they knew what we liked and just asked if we were ready for another. A simple nod got us our next drink within a couple minutes.

We received a steakhouse selection in the main dining room, but I don’t eat beef, so my boyfriend only got the benefit of this perk.

We decided not to opt for the beverage package on this cruise since the majority of our drinking is done in the casino anyway. We don’t think we will drink $400 worth of beverages outside of there, even with our latte addiction.

My husband and I did a premier cruise on Conquest in Nov 2017 and the casino cash was not given to us as cash money. The casino placed the play money in our casino bank and we had to play it in the casino only. Anyone else experience this?

I called about this for my premiere next week and they said this is how it will be handled as well. Were you able to withdraw from it or were you forced to lose it all?

I did play it down and won a bit. My only objection really was that I could not split the premier casino cash with my husband. So moving forward Carnival plans to not give it as banked casino "play" money then there is no way to cash it out to share with fellow cruiser. That is a let down.

I recently received a premier getaway offer and was very excited, all ready to book, but then life happened, and I won't be able to cruise for awhile. Will I get another offer down the line, or did I miss out by passing on this offer?

I get 3-4 every year, Some offer more casino cash then others.

I've had BB offers and other premier offers, but this is the first time the dates/departure ports were something I could book. So I'm excited to be taking my very first premier cruise.

All I really know about a premier cruise is free DOU cards for me and cabin mate, plus priority embarking.

What does priority embarking mean, exactly? When I enter the terminal, do I tell someone I'm on a premier cruise? Do I go to a VIP section?

What kind of gifts can I expect in my cabin? Will they be for both of us, or just me?

What kind of events can I expect? Special tournaments just for premier cruisers, etc.?

I'd love to read a review of someone who has actually gone on a premier cruise. Maybe I'll write one myself after I get back! But in the meantime, I'd really like to know in advance what I can expect, so any advice or personal experience is appreciated.

I bet you'll have a terrific time, my husband and I sure did in September when we went on our first one. We now have two more scheduled, one in Feb. and one in March.

Your boarding pass will have Priority on it in big red letters, so you'll be sent to a special line to get you through security faster. You will board after wedding parties, special needs, and diamond, I think. In Galveston they had a separate room for Premier and Diamond and Platinum to wait. Getting off, you carry your own luggage and gather in one of the restaurants, and get off before the rest of the passengers. We were in our car headed out of Galveston before 9 a.m., couldn't believe it.

We had a blast - they had drawings every 30 minutes for cash prizes, I won $75 the first day, and then $500 on the last - couldn't believe I got my name drawn twice! The casino had a great energy, everyone seemed pumped, super friendly - but it was overcrowded, you had to take whatever machine was available sometimes. We didn't want to miss any of the drawings, so we were in the casino from 10 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., taking a short break for lunch and dinner.

As for gifts - chocolate-covered strawberries out the wazoo, a dozen fresh-baked cookies, 2 large bottles of water, bluetooth speakers for each of us, a multi plug outlet for USB cables, a real nice throw with microfiber on one side, shearling on the other, champagne - I'm probably forgetting some of the stuff. Luckily I had packed a big tote bag to carry it all home.

The casino hosts were terrific, made it all a lot of fun. My husband and I agreed it was the best cruise we'd ever been on. Hope you enjoy yours!

How does the casino cash work? Is it uploaded and you withdraw at the machines or tables? Anyone win using it?

I was on a Premier cruise in December 2017 on the Dream and they put my casino cash on my card and it had to be played. I was kind of surprised because my Carnival agent told me it would be cash. It was hard to share with my partner since my card had to be in the machine the entire time he was playing.

Same here. I was on the Dream in December 2017. It may be something they just started doing at that time because my Carnival agent told me it would be given as cash.

Throughout the week we alsoreceived: blue plastic drink cups, bottle of champagne, cookies & a box ofchocolates. The largest/best gift issupposed to be delivered on the last night be we did not get anything! We also had quite a few people that have donemany Premier sailings ask if we got a gift the last night as they did noteither. They were also disappointed inthis Premier sailing saying that usually the hosts offered free dinners at thesteakhouse and/or Italian Restaurant, Spa services, etc. and this time nothingwas offered. This was our first Premierand we were not too impressed. We willprobably try another to see if this one was just an off one, it did have over380 Premier guests so not sure if that was the problem.

My husband received a card in the mail with Premier Cruise offer.  We were already booked at a casino rate for the 2/9/2020 14-day Journey's cruise from New Orleans.  This cruise was listed as one of the options for Premier Cruise. Our TA was able to change our rate code.  The price was the same but this now comes with all of those perks.  Looking forward to getting my own DOU card.  My husband gambles enough to get the card and he does drink much at all.

Some ships have the fun play chips, some give cash. As far as I can tell, it’s by ship. I only play table games.
