Suggestion on what to do in Raiatea??

I have never been to Raiatea before.

So I was wondering if anyone here has been to Raiatea before??

If so what did you do there??

I have heard from friends that the snorkelling is meant to be good here? :confused:

We went there way back in 2009. A person on our rollcall organised a day trip to Vahine Island and it was absolutely amazing.

I suggest you plan to get out of town. One time we just walked around, but there was very little to see. On another cruise we hired a car and drove around the island. It was lovely. Alternatively go snorkelling or on a tour to one of the nearby islands. They are gorgeous.

We have been there twice in the last couple of years. Our cruise was in port until later in the evening and there was a sunset boat tour that we did both times and if I went back I would go a third time. It was just beautiful. The sunset was amazing!  Small boat but outstanding time. 

We also did a drift snorkel during the day too. Beautiful coral but I feel that the damage done from the coral being too close to the surface is too great for me to do that again. My sister did a walking tour that talked about producing vanilla. She really enjoyed that too. 

Swimming, snorkelling or diving, really anything on or in the water is the go.

You can visit UNESCO Heritage Taputapuatea marae or if you feel energetic you could hike Mount Tapioi and check out the view of Tahaa.
