Jakarta On Your Own - A Guide

On our Star Clipper repositioning cruise between Bali and Singapore last October the ship called into Jakarta, the Indonesian Capital.

There was only the one scheduled ship's 4 hour excursion charged at €65 per person which was of limited appeal because it didn't actually include all the historical sites.

After some careful research my wife and I set our sites on a reasonably ambitious plan that would take us to the major sites, historically significant areas and the Istiqlal Mosque: the third largest Sunni Mosque in the World.

I have recently published a full review of what we saw in Jakarta and how we did it. The review contains over 50 photographs.
