As we all know as of November, those of us who smoke have lost precious real estate. For those who have cruised since the switch could you please list the vessel name and areas where you found it permitted to smoke. No need to post the obvious spots like the garden villas or cigar bar, post of your dislikes of smoking are also not welcome, this thread is to help us all get along not pick another great CC debate.

Jade

Inside

Casino - Deck 6

Cigar Bar - Deck 6 by Bar City

Outside

Deck 7 (promenade deck) where the ash trays are - basically both sides IIRC

Deck 12 near the pool in the covered bit - port side

Deck 13 - port side of Bali High bar

OK until bad weather closes the outside decks - then the cigar bar gets quite cosy!

While underway, you can smoke occasionally on the balcony. No one cares unless there are multiple smokers or you are running like a chimney. Just shut your balcony door and stay behind the dividers. Of course, don't smoke while you neighbor next door (down wind) is out unless they are cool with it.

Would these areas be the same for the Gem? Will be sailing in April. Also, do you have to stand by the ashtrays or can you sit and relax with a cocktail?

On the Gem this past Feb it's deck 7 promenade, we stood by the railing and sat in chairs, no one said anything. Deck 13 both sides of the bar, we had quite the gathering every morning! Also the casino, we used this a few times due to high waves and outside venues were closed, also upset a few people.

Unfortunately, not so much any more. While you might be able to get away with it, it's technically not allowed any more, and if you get caught, repercussions will ensue. (Just wanted to be sure any newbie or someone who wasn't aware of the new rules who came here looking for info didn't get confused or in trouble!)

going on,pride of America, first time on NCL. non smokers, does NCL have balcony smoking ban?

They do but people still smoke on their balconies. We just got off breakaway in Sunday and our neighbor smoked like a chimney the entire cruise.

I am a smoker, but I will do what I need to do to comply. As long as I can go sit somewhere in the morning and have my morning drink with my smoke I will be good. My first cruise was on the Carnival Dream in Jan 2015.. The smoking deck was out of the way. Those that didn't smoke weren't forced to pass through the smokers. I hope that the Star is set up the same way. However, if it isn't..I will adapt.

Can anyone share the EPIC smoking areas? I'm probably going to smoke on the balcony while no one is around and if I get charged 250 I don't really care, but would like to know where the other options are so I can avoid that.

SUN

Casino

Outside

Pool deck - where the ash trays are - Starboard side of the stage

Great Outdoor - up on flight of steps - Aft

Those are the ones I remember.

Harriet

Haven't sailed the sun since 2010. Thanks for the information.

I do remember the steps to deck 11 to the aft of Great Outdoor. I have back, hip and leg problems, is there another way to get upstairs or do I need to find an elevator?

Thanks again!

Mary

I was on the Epic back in Jan and thought they had a fair amount of space for smokers. The bar side of Spice H2O, main pool deck close to the Waves (starboard ??), Posh (starboard??) next to the bar. One area of the casino, we saw them pointing smokers to the correct area, and cigar bar. Not sure if there are more as I'm not a smoker but did notice them as someone in our group was a smoker.
