Getting to Fremantle Cruise Port from Perth on Embarkation Day

Best advice to get to the Fremantle Cruise Port from Perth downtown on the day of the cruise? We will probably have two large and two small suitcases. Private Car Service? Uber? Ferry? Train? March 2018.

If you are staying in the CBD near Perth railway station and can wheel or carry your own luggage, then the train is the best (and cheapest) way to go.

Fremantle station is a short walk to the cruise terminal.

An interesting and relaxing way is to go down the river by ferry. A short walk to the embarkation point on arrival... lots to see on the way there.

I cant see how such a short trip would require anything beyond a small suitcase each. I have done 6 weeks trips to Antarctica & Sth America several times with a small suitcase of 18 kilos.

Easiest and cheapest is the train - the line is right outside opposite the ship.

Convenient - would be taxi or uber. Taxi is around $65 to $75.

Pricier and more relaxed is the harbour cruise into Barrack St jetty then taxi to hotel.

PS - nothing is called "downtown" in Aus. You are probably referring to the CBD - depending on where your hotel actually is.

Yes the CBD is where we are staying. I wish we could travel as light as you. Not possible with dear wifey.

Would the opposite work if we are arriving in Perth, Fremantle, off a cruise ship, and going to the CBD with two large pieces on wheels and two carry=on size with wheels? We can easily handle our luggage.

If you can handle your luggage easily, I'd get the ferry. The wharf is only a short walk from the cruise ship terminal and the cruise up the Swan River is narrated which gives you an ideal introduction to the city of Perth. Better than any ship's debark tour.

How far is the ferry from the CBD (Holiday Inn, 788 Hay St)? Or what is it called so I can find the website? Thanks!

Holliday Inn Perth City Center to the ferry is a 700 metre walk. That's perhaps 10 to 15 minutes
