Guarantee Cabin results

It's a question that comes up all the time, and I thought it'd be nice if there were a thread that people could post to and refer back to when questions come up about Guarantee Cabin Assignments.

My hope for the thread would just be a list of facts in the format:

How does assigning at the dock work when your luggage is already checked in, or better still, if you are priority, and your luggage is supposed to be in your cabin before you are, yet you don't have a cabin #.

How does assigning at the dock work when your luggage is already checked in, or better still, if you are priority, and your luggage is supposed to be in your cabin before you are, yet you don't have a cabin #.

Last cabin assigned 2 weeks before sailing, which was two days or so after calling in for the price drop/new promo which included a hefty amount of OBC.

The porters have a list. They will mark your luggage tag by hand. If you have FTTF or other priority be sure thay affix an orange/red sticker.

Originally booked: September 10, 2014 - chose 8C balcony on Empress Deck - room 7388

Switched to guarantee: September 30, 2014 - saving $290 total

What do you mean by "already checked in"?

We only got our cabin at the dock, but we still had out luggage. The guy gave us tags, gave us our cabin number off a sheet, we filled out the tag, and he took our bags.

And doing it only once, we had a GTY 8A, and ended up on deck 8, mid ship. Best location to date.

Since then, we have only booked suites.
