Just off the independence today and loved it but she is starting to look a little tired and is having a refit does anyone have any idea what will be changed

Most likely like Liberty. More staterooms, less public space, more restaurants.

"Like Liberty" in that you mean a real Concierge/Suite lounge, and not the small, dark closet-like space Indy currently has?? :D

Most likely a Suite Lounge for GS and better, plus Pinnacle. Also the extra staterooms on deck 12 forward.

  • 2 months later...

I’m sailing on her a couple of days after she comes out of refit. I think we’re her second cruise post refit. 17th May 2018.

Looking forward to seeing what’s theyfe achieved with it.

Hoping they FINALLY refurbish all the staterooms - replacing that tired teal & teracotta look with the white & navy style. I was on Freedom this June and it looked so outdated.

With every ship going into dry dock Royal finds a way to squeeze in even more additional cabins, unbelievable! This time with Independence not only the ugly hat of cabins on deck 12 but also more cabins instead of Spa space on deck 11. The Spa is already crowded enough but who cares! Another nice Royal ship I will not book anymore.

More passengers to generate more income.

We are on Independence shortly after her refit so will see how the changes are affecting us.

Royal is the only cruise line who continuously adds a significant number of cabins to all ships. E.g. NCL, Princess, P&O or even Costa have never done it, Carnival only a few cabins on some ships. And they make money as well.

Why would you think they are going to remodel staterooms?

There is no reason to do that...
