Smoking banned in casino on Indy

Recommended Posts

One real problem they created is when they put the smoking ban in place, which I am totally in favor of, and half of the casino. smoking was then confined to outside decks. The big problem that we noticed on the last two ships , in the casino there are groups around the big ashtrays sometimes three to four , mostly in day times, who are not using the casino for machines or tables, but just light them up, smoke and then walk off to other part of ship. I counted 17 smokers on the jewel one morning in April, not at the machines or table but just around the big brass ashtrays for a smokeoff.

Unfortunately, that what happens when the smoker's area becomes smaller and smaller. More smoke is concentrated in the allowable places.

That's fabulous for me! I wish that would happen to a few US Sailing ships! I am allergic to smoke (in addition to the standard it's bad for you situation!) and would love to enjoy some casino time at sea someday!!

I'm Sorry to hear that you can't enjoy Casino Time while Cruising. However I can say that you are NOT allergic to smoke as it is not an allergen. You may have a sensitivity to smoke as it is an irritant, but definitely not an allergy.

Sort of on topic...I was under the impression that the casino was non smoking on formal nights, but this was not the case on Freedom a couple of weeks ago. Is my memory failing?

It used to be that way, but since smoking was banned on balconies a couple of years ago, the casinos rarely have smoke-free nights.

The full smoking ban in casino normally happens to Indy out of UK.

It was like that till they stopped people smoking on cabin balconies, smoking was definitely allowed in casino out of Southampton on Indy in 2014 and Explorer in 2015.

We had two smoke free cruises on indy in 2012 and 2013, after the balcony ban, adventure in 14 was very bad, and the spray they use to mask it turns my stomach.

On our recent TA on indy it was allowed but not too bad, I don't think there were that many smokers on board

On our recent Adventure cruise, 6-11, there was one non smoking night in the casino

I've noticed this on our last couple of cruises, too (and all day and night, not just in the daytime). The casino had become the de facto smoking lounge, making it smokier than ever, even when there is a "non-smoking" side.

On Freedom last week there was a non-smoking section for a number of table games. However the Texas hold 'em poker table, which is non-smoking, remains in the main smoking part of the casino! Who thought that one through!

Nobody. The non-smoking part of the casino is a joke. For whatever reason, the smoke refuses to stay out of the non-smoking area.
