Transport to Yokohama Cruise Terminal

train it. there will be English speaking staff at the desk who can pretty much draw you a map as to which station to get on and which station to get off and then how to walk to the pier.

taxis, while pristine( they literally have doilies on the head rests!) are very expensive.( plus you take your life into your hands on the roads, especially the Yoko-Yoko.)

if the staff recommends taking a bus at any point, don't worry, they are as easy as the trains/subway.

if you get a chance, Hit up the attractions at Queen's Landing, especially Cosmo( the Ferris wheel). if you like garlic, there is a restaurant inside the mall called garlic Jo's. everything, including dessert, has garlic. I recommend the tako cold appetizer and the steak. the decor is posters from Gilroy.

also it is pretty much a requirement that you get something from a street vendor.. tako yaki, yakitori, etc. (drunk? eat at an all night beef bowl. your head will thank you in the morning)

I happened to read this while on the phone with Navy son who was forward deployed to Yokosuka for two years and traveled a lot while there. He recommended train (in his words, it's idiot-proof) - Akihabara to Shinogawa, change to Yokohama. You will need a taxi to the cruise pier. He seconded the Queens Landing recommendation - it's 15 minutes from the pier. The hotel staff should be able to give you more specifics.

Or you can take JR from Akihibara to Shibuya.

Transfer at Shibuya Station to Tokyu Toyoko Line.

Get off at Nihon-Odori station.

The cruise terminal is two blocks away.

No taxi required.

He was on Fitzgerald 2013-15 - his first ship after commissioning. He didn't know the CO involved in the collision last year - son left the Fitz a few weeks before he signed on as XO.
