Which bridge? We got about half a dozen in the area. But you probably meant one of these two.

The Bay Bridge, is closest to Pier 27, can't miss it, a few long blocks away along the Embarcadero. Light show in the evening.

Golden Gate Bridge, use a car. The parking lot on either side of it are small and subject to frequent break-ins. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING in the passenger compartment, not even a Starbucks paper cup. If you do go to the north side you'll have to arrange for a toll transponder with your car rental company. The toll is $5-$7 depending on the time, there are no toll takers and is 100% cashless so a transponder is needed.

You can park at the Marina Green and walk along the bay front to reach the GG Bridge (about a mile, mile and a half). Another post card view is from Fort Point, right below and take pictures from there.

Best to try GG Bridge before 3 pm, Karl the Fog (yes we have a name for the fog) comes in around that time and can cover the Bridge.

Great advice from Philob.

Another suggestion, with your car, drive through the old Presidio, using Lincoln Boulevard. Make your way to the northwest end of SF, via Sea Cliff (where you'll find some of SF's most expensive homes.), and towards Legion of Honor. You'll see a golf course there. Park and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you have time, continue west towards the Cliff House via Geary Street/Point Lobos Avenue/Great Highway...enjoy more breathtaking views.

Once you get to the Great Highway, you'll see the Pacific Ocean on your right and Golden Gate Park to your left. Drive east through the park, slowly, and enjoy this beautiful park. At the east end, just outside the park, will be the Haight/Ashbury District...if you can find parking anywhere close to the corner of Haight and Ashbury, it's a worth the walk seeing what it may have been back in the day.

Ok, I'd better stop....ok, one more...before returning your car, drive up to the Coit Tower. Close to the cruise terminal, it will give you great views of the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and yes, the Golden Gate Bride.

On foot, from the cruise terminal, it's an easy, flat, walk to Fisherman's Wharf...there's just so much to see whether you walk towards Fisherman's Wharf or AT&T park. Have a great couple of days in San Francisco! Happy Sailing. :)
