Can anyone recommend a tour company in Cuba? has anyone heard of Fer cruises?

Thanks?

Also, has anyone purchased their own visa and how did you do it?

This is when you do need to check the US Dept of Treasury regulations about the various prohibited Cuba tour companies, if you are a US citizen. They post this list online. Avoid the ones on the list.

In April, 2018 we used Blexie for a private day tour and Strawberry Tours for a private night tour. The ship facilitated the purchase of visas. No need to do a ships tour. If you book a private tour, check the visa box: Support for the Cuban People (and NOT People to People). Use People to People if you book a ship sponsored tour. There are reviews of different tour companies in the Ports of Call/Caribbean/Cuba tab. We would book Blexie's tour company again.

Just about to use Fer Tours the day after tomorrow - so far he has been very responsive and he fits the parameters for ticking by off ‘Support the People’

We had great service from Fernando(Fer Tours) and wonderful support from our guide "Elvis" (Orelvis) our main driver Carlos 56? Chevy sedan and seconday/convertible drivers brothers Miguel and Carlos Two day one night stay off RCCL in April. Fabulous! Brought all requested paperwork to checkin and ship charged onboard account for Visa

We were in Cuba the end of May. The ship took care of our visa and charged it to our room. We took the advice of friends and simply got off the ship and picked the vintage car we liked, flagged him down and had a FABULOUS two hour tour of Old Havana. The cost was $40 and we tipped him very well. He took us everywhere with a running commentary. It was so much fun!! We spent the other part of our two day stay DIY and were able to see everything easily....we did not plan to see other parts of Cuba, just Havana. We got lots of good info regarding what to see on Tripadvisor . Have fun...we did!
