Though in some jurisdictions the judge has the power to say its excessive and reduce it.

We will all pay for it in dearer cruises...mind you spread over the entire fleet its only about $3.50 per passenger.

I'd expect compensatory to be higher than that as well as it's limited her quality of life, plus work and future earnings, in addition to the actual medical costs.

But due to the way RCL treated her and the sum, I'd say there'd be a significant punitive amount.

Hard to tell with the American system, here she’d get next to nothing.

Yes, if you're a victim of something that needs to go to court here, it's unlikely you'll be 'made whole'.

Can't answer that one but I am sure the lawyers would like their percentage or cut out of a much bigger pie.:D
