Question about Cruise Planner

Recommended Posts

I am wondering why there is such a delay between when a cruise becomes available to book and when you can reserve items on the cruise planner. It seems like standard items like beverage packages, internet packages, etc. should be available at the same time a cruise is published. Does anyone know of a legitimate reason why they wait so long to release these packages for booking on Cruise Planner? It shouldn't be because of potential price changes because they change package prices constantly. I am not complaining... I really just can't think of a reason why they can't release it all at once so you can book a cruise and all the "extras" and be done with it. (I get the shore excursions delay as they are dealing with third party vendors)

It seems like they release reservations in batches, so a bunch of sailings of different dates are released together. The cruise line has not publicly revealed the "logic" behind this process.
