Voyage of the Glaciers - One-Way from Vancouver to Whittier

Dates: May 13th to 20th

  • Skagway - Rental car to Klondike Highway, Tutshi Sled Dog Tour, Emerald Lake, Robinson Roadhouse, Flight over Glacier Bay with Mountain Flying Service

Here is our review from Norwegian Sun, Northbound Vancouver to Seward June 5-12. An incredible trip and one we wouldn't have been able to do without all the help and recommendations we had in planning from Cruise Critic.....thank you so much!

 

Day 1 - Embark Day, Vancouver

Day 2 - At Sea

Day 3 - Ketchikan (7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.)

Day 4 - Juneau (11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.)

Day 5 - Skagway (8:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.)

Day 6 - Glacier Bay (7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)

Just returned from 3 wonderful weeks in Alaska. We did a B2B on the Star Princess (Northbound & Southbound Glacier itineraries - weeks of July 1, 2017 and July 8, 2017) and then immediately boarded Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam (Vancouver-Vancouver itinerary - July 15 - 2017.) From kpd21880 .... active family vacation with 6 yr old son. ( so lots of kid friendly ideas)

6 days DIY land, followed by Celebrity Millenium cruise, Seward - Vancouver, 6/30 - 7/7 .

Land travel included: biking the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail in Anchorage, glacier trek at Matanuska, Denali (Eielson shuttle), Iditarod Museum in Wasilla, train to Seward, Kenai Fjords cruise, SeaLife Center.

 

Cruise itinerary included: Hubbard Glacier, JUNEAU (Mendenhall Lake Canoe, Fish Hatchery), SKAGWAY (rental car), ISP (whale watch), KETCHIKAN (Deadliest Catch).

 

Post cruise in Vancouver... rental car, Grouse Mountain package, biking around Stanley Park

Carnival Legend, Alaska/Glacier Bay, August 15-22, 2017

A Trip To Be (Or Not To Be) Eclipsed

 

Itinerary:

Monday August 14- Fly from Boston to Seattle on Delta Airlines, 7 am to 10:30 (with 3 hour time change). Check into the Hampton Inn, a couple of blocks from the Space Needle. Explore Seattle for the day.

Tuesday- Cruise Day! We booked Seattle Shuttle to take us to and from Pier 91 and boarded the Carnival Legend at 11:30 am

Wednesday- At Sea

Thursday- Juneau 2 pm to 10 pm: Whale Watch and Mendenhall Glacier through Juneau Whale Watch

Friday- Skagway 7 am to 9 pm: Skagway Scenic Tour booked through the ship

Saturday- Glacier Bay

Sunday- Ketchikan, 7 am 1 pm: Alaska Bear Adventure booked through the ship

Monday- At Sea*, Victoria 7:30 pm to midnight, appetizers and drinks at the Blue Crab

Tuesday- Debarkation in Seattle, 8 am. Check into Hampton Inn, explore Seattle

Wednesday, August 23- Flight from Seattle to Boston (9:30 amto 6 pm, 3 hour time difference)

* About a month before the cruise we learned we would be cruising off the coast of Vancouver Island during the August 21 solar eclipse, a few hundred miles from the path of totality.

Review of the Coral Princess June 17-24, 2017, S/B Whittier vancouver; 6 passengers, includes Skagway Juneau, Ketchikan.

Caution: I have little time for Cruise Boards... so if you ask questions, likely it will have to be others who respond. I only ck this about once in a while...

Looking to rent a car and saw that you rented from Juneau Car Rental. I just called and the vehicles we need are a 207 and 2008. Did you have any issues with your vehicle?
