I just booked Hyatt Place.

Does anyone know it?

Any comments?

Thanks

In the thread entitle Hyatt House or Hyatt Place there are some comments.

I booked it too for our June 2018 Alaska Cruise. Location was good and free breakfast. We are only staying one night

We have booked it for our April 2018 Panama Canal cruise, based on comments in the Hyatt House or Hyatt Place thread.

The only negative seems to be noise from gas station next door.

I'm staying at the Mayflower right now. Not sure what the summer prices are. It is an old fashioned hotel but in a good location, and from my perspective perfectly nice. So that might be an option. (It was the least expensive downtown hotel I could find the night before a Seahawks game.)

I just booked Red Lion Hotel today for June cruise. Very mixed reviews but it’s convenient to the light rail to go downtown for the day. And free airport shuttle. I reserved two nights for a total of $303 that includes breakfast. Refundable rate so I can still shop around. There are five of us tho so we exceed most room occupancies. Keeping my eye on the Embassy Suites and Crowne Plaza. We really aren’t supper picky as long as it’s safe and clean.

I stayed there the last week in Sept. Nice property with a great staff (and nice rooms). Location near the Space Needle. They have a van that will take you downtown and other places closeby.

Only negative was that we had a room facing the adjacent gas station and it was noisy, for most of the night. I think the hotel is aware of this issue.

I will have to contact the hotel before leaving and request a quiet room!

We stayed at the Ace Hotel for 3 nights before our cruise in September. Basic but very well located just up the hill from Pier 66 an easy walk to the Space Needle in one direction or Pike Place the other direction. Fabulous serve yourself breakfast. I think we paid about $139 per night and could walk everywhere.

The Residence Inn on Lake Union is often a good inexpensive option. It is on the north end of town but the light rail stops very close to the hotel (not the same light rail from the airport...although using both is doable with a switch near Westlake) and can take you into downtown. It is one of the nicer residence inns you will find.

There are a few things that come to mind for this post. You are VERY early to expect rates for August 2018? to be a good rate now. What we have done numerous times is find a place that you are interested in....make a reservation with just using your cc number but they don't charge you until your visit (be sure to cancel your reservation if you don't use them).

We have used different ways to get a good deal and this time for our May 2018 visit we booked our first Airbnb.com and boy are we happy. We have weekend rates, very close to Pier 91 area and walkable or Uber to Pikes Market area for $200 for the weekend!!! Super cute place and so excited.

We also still have a reservation that we made (need to cancel) near the airport at Cedarbrook Lodge for same weekend for $386 which was also a good rate for that time BUT too far away from Downtown for our liking.

I have plenty of good information and a $40 off first Airbnb visit if you want to email me at home so I can provide that to you as well as a great private towncar service we like etc. This will be our fourth time to Alaska as it is such a great trip. Email me if you want some discount codes and a lead to the cute place we have reserved for May/June 2018. Compson351@cox.net

Happy travels whatever you decide to do ! Charlene

We just booked our first Airbnb for May 2018 as well! I can't wait, and I was so excited to find a place downtown and reasonably priced!

We decided to be adventurous. I booked the American hotel Seattle, a hostel, near Chinatown and Amtrak station. Besides bunk rooms and dormitories, they have a few three berth suites with private bathrooms for $110.

Last time we cruised out of Seattle we stayed at the Hilton in Bellevue. We obviously had a car & found it convenient. We were able to visit the sights outside of the city (visit Snoqualmie!) & getting around was a breeze.

Also, the car rental company shuttled us to port after returning the car.

There are some amazing Dim Sum restaurants in that area...go for breakfast before your cruise.

We are looking at either the Mayflower or the Crowne Plaza. Any comments on either hotel?

I posted above about the Mayflower. Stayed there in November based on price and location and it was fine. An older and old-fashioned hotel in some ways, but in a convenient location (near the train from and to the airport, walked to restaurants, Pike Market, etc.) and nice service.

Take a look at Silver Cloud. South Lake Union or Stadium. Prices spike around Seattle sports events, Seafair, graduations, holidays, normal summer things. The Edgewater is next to the NCL pier, not sure you could closer. Don't stay by the airport to save a buck...try Bellevue, Capital Hill or get crazy and stay in Bremerton, walk on the ferry, explore, return via the ferry and see Seattle from the water better then cruise.

I agree...the Airport in not in a good area. It is probably OK if you are arriving in the evening and just heading to the port in the morning but don't stay there for multiple days. Literally anywhere else in the Puget Sound region would be better (even Tacoma). But if you are staying there, The Roaster is my favorite airport area restaurant...but don't go there if you are a vegetarian.

........

We stayed several nights at the Moore Hotel post cruise. It’s just a couple of blocks from Pikes Place on 2nd and Virginia Ave - and only paid $124 a night, and that’s the normal rack rate!!! It’s an historic hotel and some rooms have a shared bath - ours was private. Large, clean rooms but beware they do not have AC - not a huge issue for us as the windows open and it was pleasantly cool during the evenings.

Check them out......

Yikes, no ac? I think I would die without it. :D We are staying at the Mayflower Park Hotel which is right up the street. I was worried because it never occurred to me to check for ac, but thank goodness they have it. I guess living in Florida I just automatically assume that there is ac everywhere.

We live in NC and thought the exact same thing - but after splurging on the cruise, excursions, souvenirs and wanting to visit Seattle post cruise and the cost of dining and tours there, we had to make a compromise somewhere. Since the windows open, we were quite comfortable - even a bit chilled at night. The hotel’s location and being able to stay three nites for the cost of 1-2 nites elsewhere was a no brainer for us

We have a hire car and would like to go to Muckleshoot casino and the large outlet centre, so thought we would have the 2 days prior to the cruise, at Auburn. Is this area OK? Car hire firm said they would shuttle us from downtown to Pier 91.

It's okay, but can I suggest an alternative?

The biggest outlet mall in the region is around 40 minutes north of Seattle. The Seattle Premium Outlets is adjacent to the big Tulalip casino/resort complex, and is generally regarded quite highly.

Both areas have their advantages. If you stay someplace close to the Mukleshoot reservation you could do a day trip to Mt. Rainier quite easily. Map.

On the other hand, staying near the Tulalip complex would make it easy to do a terrific "loop" drive - north to the casino and outlet mall, then up to picturesque La Conner and Deception Pass, then back down Whidbey Island (more pretty villages and scenery) to the Mukilteo ferry, then past the Boeing Everett factory (biggest building in the world and home of the big jets) and back to Seattle. Map.

My own feeling is that the northern loop is preferable, but it's your call. Your lodging options in the Tulalip scenario are broader, including possibly staying on Whidbey Island.
