NCL Dawn

No, I don't have questions particularly. I was in 10036 a couple of years ago & loved the ship and Bermuda.

I would suggest that perhaps you might consider writing a review and posting it... so people can benefit from your experience. Everyone loves reading a review!

We're staying in our first AB penthouse suite on July 18th, cabin #11510. Can you provide us with any important information we'll need to know about these wonderful cabins? I've sailed on the Dawn before but would like to know more information about what perks we should be aware of.

Any information you could provide would be appreciated.

Do you have the cruise dailies to post?

Any specific meal or show you recommend?

What time did the Dawn dock on arrival to NYC?

I assume everyone was off by 10 AM

Hi!

Just back from the NCL Dawn. My wife and I were in 10228 and friends were in 9502. If anyone has any questions about the Dawn or Bermuda I would be happy to try and answer them.

Hi Hal... we are booked in 10228 in Sept.. we have been on the Dawn and to Bermuda before but my DH asked if you had any actual pics of the cabin. Hope the Dawn is still as wonderful as we remember.

When I can, I will try and write a review. For now let me try and answer some of the questions.

Best time to book? Early and call NCL back prior to your final payment. Ask about specials or upgrades. I booked the cheapest outside cabin with a balcony, got a upgrade to a higher cat up two decks for $300 less. Then got an upsell to a suit for $350.

Perks for AB. If you have not had Butler and Concierge service you are in for a real treat. Starts at check in. You will not have to stand in line. The person checking you in will escort you to a private area for Suite Passengers only, where you will be greeted by your Concierge. Drinks and snacks are provided. Depending on when you arrive, you will be escorted by the Concierge to your suite (if it's ready) or Cagney's for lunch. If you have any carry on you don't wish to carry with you to Cagney's they will store it for you. Once your room is ready you will be greeted by your Butler (Jayson in our case) with Fresh flowers, Chilled Champlain etc. Your Butler will take care of all meal requests for your room. We liked to eat breakfast in our room and he would arrive cover our table with a white table cloth and set silverware up. Then serve. You can order off any menu. The butler will also bring you DVD's you pick from a list of 80. Your Butler has a cell phone to contact him directly. The Concierge will make all dinner reservations for the specialty restaurants. He will also hold seats at the shows. He also has a cell phone. During debarkation you will wait in a private area and be escorted off the ship by the Concierge. You can leave as late as 9:45 am. All your luggage will be placed in a special area and all of your luggage will be together.

Bermuda excursions. We did most things on our own. Don't miss St. George (take the ferry), the caves were good. Horseshoe Beach was nice but crowded. I recommend Elbow Beach instead. If you can get to Cooper's Island it has the best beaches. I will try and list more later.

Sorry I did not copies of the Dailies.

The ship docked at about 7:40 a.m.

I have pictures of 10228, but I will have to see if I can reduce them so I can post them. I think you will really like 10228.

Hi Hal

Two quick questions- do you know if there were any lounge chairs in the back by the kiddie pool area? Also how was the food in the MDR?

Thanks

Only kid sized lounge chairs! You can sit on regular chairs or on lounge chairs right outside the kids enclosed area. I have tons of pictures of the pool on my Dawn page. The food is good in the main dining room.

Had a great cruise on Dawn last September, Thought it really needed to be refurbished, has it been done?

The Dawn will go into Drydock in November, 2011. Check out all the improvements to the Star (sister ship of the Dawn). Maybe NCL will follow that plan for the Dawn.... who knows?

Trust me... your expectations will be exceeded! There is no suite life like NCL suite life!!! We were upsold to an AB on our first Dawn cruise (2005) and have not sailed in anything less since... prepare to be completely SPOILED!!!!

I thought the Dawn was primarily John Ibrahim's ship, and Shona filled in for his vacations? No?

I talked to John a couple months ago and he said he would return to the Dawn in July...

John's a great CD...was looking forward to sailing with him again

There is a free trolly that stops near the ship and takes you around the royal navy yard. It stops at about 4 or 5 places of interest (like the clock tower mall, the glass works, the rum cake factory and the snorkle park) and then returns to the ship.
