You can’t designate what OBC is used for.

All it is, is a credit to your account. Doesn’t matter if a bottle of water is charged, the gratuities are charged, an excursion is charged, or if you purchase a gift for your self. The cost of the charge come out of your OBC first

So, we have cheers, and through my job carnival gave me a promotion with $200 on board credit. Id like some ideas for what to use OBC for besides booze?

$200 is very spendable. There are jewelry stores and keepsakes and drinks, of course, specialty dining in restaurants.

If you haven’t prepaid gratuities then that will use up most of it.

If you have prepaid gratuities you can use it on Excursions, spa, photos, souvenir or alcohol (to take home) from onboard shops.

If you have credit left over, and can’t find anything else to spend it on, and you know for sure you want to go on another Carnival cruise, you can buy a Carnival Gift Card from Cherry on Top/Special Occasions.

Also, in the event your OBC is excluded from use in the casino (not common, but it is possible), buying a gift card is a way to get around that.

We use it for gratuities. Other things we bought were Dive in movie blankets ($22), an occasional drink, sushi, special room service items, etc. I don't like little trinkets from the gift shops, I have no where to put them so I opt for useful or consumable goods :)

Would this be possible? Or can OBC be used just for your present cruise?

Anyway, casino, specialty restaurants, excursions, flowers, drinks - any can be offset with OBC.

You could buy a gift card onboard, which would likely be the easiest way to make a deposit or progress payment on a future cruise.

OBC expires or is refunded (for balances over $10) at the end of a cruise. Not all forms of OBC are refundable.

:D:D:DDeposit on your next cruise.

Sorry, you can't do that. If you secure your onboard account with a credit card, they will use that credit card for your deposit if you book another cruise on board. They will not use OBC for that (or cash/gift cards that have been applied to your S&S account). Workaround: If you really want to use your OBC to book another cruise, go to Cherry on Top and use your OBC to purchase a gift card. Use the gift card for the deposit by presenting it when you book your next cruise.

IMHO, none of this is worth the trouble. Just cash out any left over OBC using the casino trick.

If gratuities haven't been paid in advance, I'd let the OBC go toward those. Also could use it for photos or something in the gift shops. A dinner in a specialty restaurant might be nice as well.
