that I didn't know before...

My wife needs to gamble more to get the amazing rates some posters have stated they have gotten, even though she misses the actual quarters falling into the tray,

even for amounts as low as $60 in the slots

that Alfredo's is free.

that there is a coffee card.

that coffee in the Horizon buffet on Regal is real, and not syrup.

that you can ask for a mattress topper (didn't get it, though)

that you have to recheck the rates even after booking

that there are such things as upsells and upgrades

that there are sofa beds in deluxe balcony rooms, but not in regular balcony rooms

Anything you want to do....LOOK HERE FIRST.....then draw your own conclusion

Case in point.....my BVE was a disaster.....if it wasn't for reading about what it is here, I would have never known what to expect or receive.....I immediately took care of it on board and got it right (well almost)

How many times can someone ask....can I get the (pick time) flight, when the ship docks (pick time and always book the earliest flight possible anyway

I have also learned that you can't bring.....irons, kettles, balcony decorations, tarps, crock pots, tubas, my pet dog, cat, bird, turtle

I have also learned that people can be very "entitled"

And I have also learned that I have met some very nice people and have remained friends

• Buying Future Cruise Credits

• Watch for price drops

• Purchase 100 shares of stock

• Caribe balconies rock (on most ships)

• Can trade mini bar set-up

• Don't send stuff to laundry you can't bear to part with (or have damaged)

• You are on vacation. Don't sweat the small stuff.

too the two folks commenting on gambling incentives you also need to learn everything posted on CC is not true You will not get those offers for $60 slot play someone is just messing with us or their spouse is gambling far more than they are owning up too!!

My wife & I gamble very little. We maybe spend $20 each on a cruise and mainly use the casino to cash out OBC. I have received 2 casino rates, but have not been able to use them. My wife has not received any.

LOL!!!! I always thought those casino rates were just made up stories.....until we received some amazing offers in November. Some cruises were even FREE!!! Just port fees and taxes. Unfortunately we couldnt take advantage. :( DH plays the slots once or twice a cruise. Never more than $100.

Cheers, Denise

I have learned that there are still people that really know how to vacation and live life. I have also learned not to sweat the little things that might occur on the ship, just roll with what ever it is and keep moving. For the most part most people on here have very good information for those in need, better then google !!!!

I've been cruising since 1982, and I still enjoy reading posts, different perspectives, all good. I try not to get snippy with those stressing over small stuff, what I consider no big deal, might be huge to them.

When I cruise, it is interesting the number of people booking through Princess but still not checking things on the internet, surprising to me.

I take long cruises, in the IC a great deal and every cruise I have someone ask how the much desserts are, the quiche, or whatever, same with Alfredo's. These aren't always those of my generation, younger people (not hard to be younger)! :)

When I first viewed CC I remember a post relating to a cruise I was going on. While in the elevator of the QM2 a few months later, I saw another person who I recognised as a poster also. We got chatting and both that couple and ourselves although we live in different parts of the World are best friends and have been now for 12 years. It is a pleasure to have met you all those years ago Mary & Randy.

Thank you Cruise Critic for this

I learned that on many Princess ships, the carpet has a red border on one side of the ship and not on the other! I get to make a correct turn to the cabin every time I reach my deck! Wooohooo! DH thought I'd magically learned "directional thinking" or something goofy like that! ;p

— No cruise or ship is perfect. Some are good, some are great, some are just OK.

— Set reasonable expectations.

— Do your homework/research. You’ll avoid surprises or disappointments.

— Pack half the clothes you think you’ll need. No one cares if you wear something twice.

— You’re on a ship with hundreds/thousands of other people. Respect their rights. It’s their cruise, too.

— A ship is a mechanical object sailing on the seas. There’ll be motion, noise, and sometimes, nasty weather. The ocean is tough on any ship or boat. It’s corrosive. There’ll be rust, dirt and residue.

— The Captain doesn’t skip a port to make onboard money. It’s for your safety. The ship loses money when ports are missed.

— Above all, relax.

I’ve made some wonderful, lifelong friends on cruises. That’s the greatest gift of all.
