3rd & 4th person charges

I've been doing dummy bookings trying to find the best prices for my family of four. Seems like if you get a good rate for the 1st two people they just jack up the cost for the 3rd & 4th so once everything averages out you're not really saving much by booking the lower fares. Any once else notice this? Am I missing something?

In my experience, they do not discount 3/4 person rates even thought the 1st/2nd person rates can go down with a price drop.

The 3/4 person rate is basically for food and entertainment, relatively fixed costs. When they drop a rate they typically drop the rate for the room but the other portions of the costs remain the same, therefore only passenger 1/2 gets the lower rate. Also, depending on the sailing, the costs for the fixed portion of the cruise could be higher, thus making the 3/4 rate seem higher than other sailings.

Wait, what? I'm lost. They're charging more for the 3rd & 4th person than for the 1st & 2nd. Someone please explain.

No, I was just saying that sometimes I come across a cheap fair only to find that it's not that great of a deal once you add your 3rd and 4th persons.

By booking 2 rooms your points would add up faster, too, correct?

If you are talking about the C&A points, the answer is no. Each passenger gets their own points, no matter who books and pays for the cabin.
