I am On Breakaway 7/31. What do you want to know?

In one week (7/31), I will be boarding the NCL Breakaway for a week of fun on our way to Bermuda. I will be making a massive picture review when I return, but I thought it would be fun to see what questions you may have that I can research and/or take pictures of for you.

We are a family of three, My Wife Nancy, Daughter Ella (9), and Myself. We will be staying in a Spa Balcony. Want pictures of the splash academy? Pictures of the spa? I can do that.

I love taking pictures, and I will have my DSLR with me, so what do you want to see? especially if its a picture of something thats not commonly photographed. Wanna see a panoramic photo of Sheehans? Wanna see pictures of the temperature controls in the room? wanna know who the CD is? Just let me know.

I have done this type of posts before on previous cruises, so let me clarify two things.

1. don't be surprised when someone else answers your question. As a matter of fact, I encourage it. If you know the answer to a question someone posts in this thread, that's one less thing I have to get the answer to.

2. Someone always asks me to take pictures of the room they will be in next month. I will be happy to take a picture of the door, but I will not knock on somebodies door and ask them if I can take pictures inside their room.

P.S. After my cruise, I will make a new thread with a ton of cruise pictures, and a review of my cruise. My question for you is this. I will be spending two days with the family in New York before the cruise departs. Should I start my review with pictures from those two days in the city, or do I start my trip report with our arrival at the port?

I vote for a trip report that begins with your two days in the city!

I would love love love pictures of the dailies. I sail the last week in August so if you posted your dailies I could plan assuming the schedule doesn't majorly change in a month.

Also, I am traveling with an 11 yr old and would love to know any place where he is NOT allowed just in case. I hear Spice deck is kids free as well as the Bliss lounge. Just want to be sure so I don't plan something in an area he's not allowed.

I thank you in advance for what I'm sure will be an awesome review!

That would be great ... pictures of your time in NY prior will be fine also (where you stayed at and what you used for transport to get to the Cruise terminal would be beneficial ... )

Could you offer your opinion on the following ...

  • How busy was the Thermal Spa during your cruise ...
  • Can you grab a photo down the hallway of where stateroom 14136 (Haven Spa Suite) is ...
  • This may be a lot ... but a photo of any booth seating in the dining venues you come across
  • If you happen to dine at Moderno Churrascaria, then a photo of how the servers present the "entrees"
  • Photos of the Shanghai Noodle Bar
  • Is it really that "smoky" in the casino and areas around it?
  • Photos of any speciality drinks you come across

Hope that's not too much ... have a fun and safe cruise ... look forward to hearing your report when you return

Great questions. As for pictures of the hallway, it depends on how much the "Haven Police" are monitoring the doors to that area. I will try, and if I get caught, I will blame Cruise Critic for why Im there. :p

OH i thought of other things!

I hear about a magic act being on board but not any concrete information. Maybe the magician time will be listed in the dailies but if you hear anything, I'd love to know.

ALSO there's talk of the Uptown complimentary burger place being turned into a non complimentary Margaritaville restaurant. I'd like to know if that's true, when the switch is rumored to happen and what the Margaritaville menu is like.

These are non urgent kinda questions, just curious about these things so if you don't get to them, it's OK.

Lol- unfortunately we're in those Haven class staterooms that are outside of the "Haven Zone" on deck 16 which has the Owner Suites, Villas and Penthouses. It can be kind of misleading when you see the NCL's video regarding "The Haven" and one assumes that if you have a Haven class stateroom you're residing in that area ... It's not like the Concierge Stateroom Deck aboard the Disney Fantasy ... sigh - one day perhaps :)

I'd be curious to hear how smoky the casino gets. Will you be trying for a Vibe pass?

I also am curious about Vibe. How hard is it to get passes? If you go right when you board to the Atrium do you stand a good chance?

Has anyone tried and not been successful?

Smoke in the casino is a subject I'm really looking forward to experience for myself. We are from the south, and my perspective tends to be a little more laid back than my northern friends that this ship seems to cater too

I'm staying in Cabin 14128 next week so I can grab a photo for you. I'm hoping that the rumors of being treated like 2nd class Haven passengers isn't true just because we're not in the actual Haven area.

Please check and advise if the (even) faster satellite internet has been upgraded (SpeedNet) on the BA and any changes to pricing & options, as well as further price increase for iConcierege, was $9.95 for the paid features recently while other NCL ships reported $12.95 or $14.95 already.

To get an idea of whether it's faster, connect with the browser from the internet cafe's Acer PC to NCL dot com, it's always free & available to browse for those that didn't know.

Daily dining specials at O'Sheehans, if any (and, whether there's upcharge like the MDR for surf & turf) and/or chagnes to OSH's "regular" menu - fleetwide new menus rolling out, fleetwide ... so far, it's like shadow dancing

And, total # of passengers on your sailings. Last week, it was reported by the Royal Gazette that BA arrived for Bermuda with just 4,300 guests and that's a very low number, might not be an accurate count. We sailed BA 3 times and far more passengers on the ship even during off-seasons - summer cruises are typically sold out full & close to lifeboat capacity.
