We are booked on the ransatlantic on the symphony on October 28, 2018 out of Barcelona. The Symphony departs at 6:00 P.M.

We are considering the Azamara Pursuit on the front end. It arrives in Civitavecchia on the same day. I have read that Azamara has everyone off the ship from 7- 9:00 A.M. It appears that the nonstops to Barcelona that would get us to BCN in plenty of time but those leave Rome(FCO) at 9:45 A.M. There are a few one stops that would get us to BCN by 4-4:30 P.M. that leave a bit later We would love to do both cruises but..... Any advice re worth considering best option to get froom the Port to FCO? etc.????

Thank you.

We just got off the Pursuit in Southampton ( maiden voyage ). I can attest to early off. 7:30 am in our case.

Can't assist with Rome info but caution you that our 2 pm non stop flight London to Barcelona on iberIb was delayed for 3 hours. Blame was attributed to rough weather on prior flights that day stacking things up.

Just a cautionary tale. It's something to consider once your question is answered. Definitely be aware of all flights leaving to Barcelona around your scheduled time and investigate' late' history.

There are some great reviews of the Azamara Pursuit. Hope you pull it off

We've sailed into Civitavecchia at least a dozen times. Assuming that you can be off the ship at 07:30 (not a given) and you have pre-arranged transportation that leaves at say 08:00, no way you will make a 9:45 flight. Plan at least an hour to FCO to be safe and you will never make it through security and to the gate by a say 09:30 gate closure. Likely wouldn't even be able to check in.

Arriving at around 4:30 with the one-stop flights carries further issues. Later in the day flights are more apt to delays, plus if you are on time and conceding that the airport is fairly close, your all aboard will be at 4:00 or 4:30 (you sail at 6:00 PM).

We are real adventurous with doing our own excursions, taking chances with departures, but that is one I wouldn't try to accomplish. Your only saving grace is that the first port, Malaga, 2 days later is also in Spain before you trek across the Atlantic.
