For those who have been to Maputo recently, there is a thread on the Oceania board re: very long delays clearing Nautica on December 2017 cruises ... immigration comes aboard to take photos and fingerprints of each pax ... the passport scan machine doesn't always work, etc. I am looking to find out what others have experienced on arrival in Maputo. There was a link posted in the thread in question to an article that confirms the delays ... and the impact of these delay on the local businesses since many pax in these recent incidences opted to stay on the ship.

We will be calling on Maputo on Oceania Insignia in February -- 8a to 3p. A short call to begin with, which means that any delays getting off will make our time in port that much shorter. One instance reports delays up to 4 hours). With the visas costing $169pp + the cost may outweigh the value of what we see, so we are pondering things at the moment. For those who had their visa already ... did you have to go through the same line as those getting visas on arrival from the immigration officials who come aboard the ship? Did having your own visa speed things up.

Thanks.
