mn Noordam Sauna/Steam and refurbishment

Hi

We are considering booking on the Ms Noordam cruise to the South Pacific Islands on 14 January 2019, can someone please tell me if there is free male and female steam and sauna's onboard, as this will influence our decision?

I have also been told that the ship is badly in need of a refurbishment, is this correct?

The sauna’s are free. Steam room is coed and part of what HAL calls Thermal Suite which include heated ceramic lounges, thalassotherapy pool and steam rooms. This is sold for length of cruise and day packages.

I have also been trying to get some update on interior of Nordam but dont get much feedback yet. It is not due for drydock till next fall and I was wondering how linens and furnishings and mattresses were holding up at this point

We will be boarding the Noordam next weekend...I will report back with detail as to her condition.

As I recall the steam room was unisex. I am boarding next week to Auckland. I remember it was not very busy

There are free male and female saunas but they are not near the change rooms (as is normal). I just disembarked from Noordam on 30 Sep 18 in Vancouver and the male sauna was out of service for my entire cruise but I probably wouldn’t have used it anyway; it was tiny (looked like only big enough for three people) and almost felt like an afterthought in the ship. I have done 25+ cruises and normally use the sauna most days, and this appeared to be the worst sauna set-up I have seen. I did not try the co-ed thermal suite so cannot comment on that.
