Hosting a Party in your Cabin or on your Balcony?

I have searched using every combination of key words that I could think of, but didn't find anything that was specific to my question. We are cruising on the Miracle in Mach 2019. It is our wedding cruise, but we're not planning it through Carnival.

We have an aft wrap cabin. What I'm trying to find out is if anyone has every hosted a party in their cabin or on their balcony before? I know I can order appetizer trays through the Fun Shops. How did you manage that? Do you get to choose when they are delivered? What about alcohol? Am I limited to only one bottle if I pre-order it on the ship? Or can I get "one of each?"

What else can you share about your experience?

Thank you for the information,

We've had small parties with just friends or family we travel with on our Balcony. You can choose the day you want it delivered and I don't believe there is a limit on how many bottles you can order. Someone with more knowledge will correct if I am wrong. Order Ice from your Steward, we brought our own pack of plastic glasses. Have FUN!

Congratulations on your wedding! Yes, I've read on this board of others who have had parties in their cabin, and some work with Carnival to have a private party in one of the ship's lounges during non-peak time when there is nothing else going on in the space. You might want to call Fun Shop to get your specific questions answered about what is available and any rules they might have. 1-800-522-7648, 9AM to 6 PM EST. Best wishes! It seems Carnival has been making changes lately and removed many of their website FAQ topics, so it would probably be a good idea to get updated information.

we used to do the one hour open bar. (they also have a 2 hour opened bar)

what day were you planning to have that?

you can order your appetizers through manage your booking and ordering from the fun shops. You are aware that there is only one or two parsons tables out there? very small to hold a few canape trays.

Look into that open bar party

last we booked one is was like 14. pp for one hour

On my second cruise my first husband and I got invited by who we thought were a nice couple for a cabin party. There were about 15 people in their suite comfortably. Unfortunately these people were trying to lure us into swinging *eek*

I’ve never hosted a party, as it would get pretty crowded in my inside cabins——LOL—-but I am familiar with ordering from the Fun Shops. You will be asked what day you want it delivered, so you choose the date. Also, as long as you are buying THEIR booze, I don’t think there ever is a limit on the amount of bottles you order from the Fun Shops. They also sell soda and other mixers. I just bought soda, beer and water to be delivered on my embarkation day.

I believe there is a two bottle limit.

You can pre-order 2 bottles of liquor or beer setups per cabin using the online FunShops, they will be delivered unless otherwise specified on embarkation day (except for cruises leaving from Texas). You can order the party trays through the FunShops, a letter or card will be in the cabin on embarkation day with instructions on how to have it delivered fresh.

We've done cabin crawls and maybe 10-15 people can fit comfortably in the L-shape wrap cabins leaving room to mingle. But seating plus having places to serve the food and drinks can make the logistics awkward if it will be a long gathering.

My suggestion is is do the math first, double checking how many people could attend the party. Then compare things like the private functions menus and options (minimum 20 people, you can have less but will still pay for the minimum) vs. the in room per item prices. If stopping at Half Moon Cay you may want to check out the Private Oasis (snacks, liquor, non-alcoholic, and cookout food included) or Beach Villa (soda and snacks included) rentals.

We had a gathering of about 20+ people in a suite and we ordered a couple platters of cheese and crackers and such. We did not order alcohol, but since we knew about the gathering before we cruised, every couple brought 2 bottles of wine onboard.

This was a meet and greet and we asked each couple to bring wine from a local winery so we could all sample from different areas of the country. It worked out pretty well. I think other people also ordered cake and cookies from the fun shops as well...after a few glasses of all the wine I don't really remember all the food that was there ;)

A couple years back,we had our family reunion on a cruise. My parents had an aft and we had a pre dinner party on first sea day. Since it was primarily families,we didn't do alcohol. But ordered two larger fruit, cheese trays. We had brought chips and other items on board along with soft drinks. In all we had at peak 20 plus. Tight at times.but still reasonable. My parents did bring a couple of black trash bags and did picked up alot afterwards to make it easier on the room steward and also tip him extra for that cleaning after

Thanks for all of the responses and wedding wishes! You've given me some good info. At this point, we don't know how many more people will book. As of this morning, we're up to 21 people, so we might already be outside the number of folks who can fit comfortably.

We're thinking of just a short get together for a coupe of drinks and appetizers before dinner. We have looked into the group party with the open bar, and may decide to go that route. But having people over just seemed like a nicer way to do it. Can't help it. I'm an entertainer at heart!

But definitely NOT a swinger...;p

If you have 21 people, you can do a group. Most sailings have amenities for groups and one of them is a cocktail party that would cover drinks and snacks. While you aren’t doing the wedding through Carnival, this would be a good way to get space.

We once hosted a party in our suite - about 15 people. We ordered snacks and buckets of beer from room service, DH made some platters of lunchmeat and cheese from the Lido deck, and we had our carry-on wine bottles. One of our guests also brought two wine bottles. It was fun to do.

I have had a few parties in my cabin and balcony (used a cord to keep the door open) but for only 10 people.

For 2 birthday cruises we used the area above the lido deck to have a party. We just had some of the people hold tables for us. For both we had 30 people. From home we brought tablecloths, cups, plates, napkins, table decorations, plastic utensils, bags of chips, cheese curls, Fritos, cheese and crackers and candy. We ordered the cakes and sandwich trays, fruit trays from the ship ( they let you choose the day and time for delivery). We asked our room steward for a cart to carry the cake & trays (they are very heavy). The rest of the stuff we put in suitcases and rolled them to our spot. We each had brought a 12 pack of sodas on the ship and about 6 cabins ordered 2 bottles of liquor each. We even brought speakers to hook up to our phones so we could have music. Everyone had a wonderful time!!!!

Thanks again for all of the comments and suggestions! Right now we have about 22 people booked plus my fiancé and myself, so we do qualify for the group room. And we may go that route. I just thought it would be nicer to have everyone at the cabin.

Thanks again,

For a wedding anniversary, we had a private fully catered party. Lots of options are available (alcohol and canapés) and they will close off an area of the ship for you based on the size of your group. Contact the Event Planning department - we found it surprisingly affordable compared to one of their traditional hosted wedding packages.

We had a party on aft wrap a few cruises ago and ordered a few plates. They brought one of those stands they used in the dinning room to help hold the trays - smart! We've also done the impromptu self improvisation thing by grabbing items from the lido. That said, the food delivery was quite nice and well done.

I also want to echo what someone else said, if you already have 21 people - you may be close to hitting 8 cabins. If that's the case, look into getting everyone into a group and one of the perks is a 1hr cocktail party - for free! I've done this twice in the past - but honestly at this point it just isn't worth the hassle herding cats anymore (especially now that we have our young kids!!).
