Suite/Frequent Cruiser Perks

Yes I did and perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I suppose I meant that other cruise companies treat passengers in their more expensive cabins better that P&O. On Cunard there are 4 classes with each one getting more favourable treatment than the other. So you do get what you pay for. On P&O I don't think you do.

Enjoy the suite life? While we've had a few perks from being in a suite I think the only reason I'd book with P&O is for the itinerary now. I personally think P&O have no idea how to treat the passengers who pay for their most expensive cabins. A bigger cabin, a butler and somewhere to eat breakfast doesn't really count for much compared to what is on offer from other cruise companies.

The problem with folk undervaluing suites and the service obtained from this accommodation is to my mind dependant on the expectation level of what they want. Yes, of course there are the facilities which automatically go along with purchasing a suite apart from just a larger cabin, priority boarding, extra on board spend, priority buffet lunch on boarding, breakfast in select dining venue, bottle of champagne on arrival, canopies each evening, priority at tender port, priority disembarkation and Butler service. Before I move on to the butler service, what ‘extras’ would you want want to make you feel .. Wow, this is the suite life. Let's mention service, why is it that I find the service we receive on a P&O ship nothing less than excellent. I guess it is all about being kind and thoughtful to the team that serve us. Let's not forger that many of the crew that serve us get little acknowledgement for their day to day efforts, yes it is their job, but pats on the back and smiles are always welcome as in any other walk of life. Sadly many passengers treat the staff with disinterest so are rather miffed that's what they get in return. That said, we find that when we cruise we always get a very positive welcome and made to feel rather special, Oh! you’re back how can I help and they do. Now onto Butler service, Again it is what you want from this super service. Breakfast on your balcony as you sail into Venice, or every day. Lunch serviced with champagne (optional) overlooking the wake or tied up alongside let's say a wonderful Caribbean port. Dinner in the evening again overlooking the wake or when tied up in Madeira overnight. Dinner organised in a select dining venue with the table of your choice. Post posted, luggage packed unpack especially if you are disabled, fortunately we’re not, so don’t use this service. Organise your party, drinks and canopies and send invitations to your guests. I could go on and on. In the end, if you feel that you are not being made to feel special and maybe not interested in these services, then probably a deluxe cabin would be the best choice.

Have you looked at MSC Yacht Club, you’ll get all that plus a lot more and currently cheaper than Pando, maybe not for long! The MSC Preziosa sails out of Barbados like Britannia with the added bonus of no sea days just 14 ports of call on your 15 day/14 night cruise, flights direct from Gatwick.

They are also offering Loyalty Match with any other cruise line which will give you 5-15%discount over and above the TA discount. The bargains on offer wouldn’t last for long as already it’s getting difficult to get a YC deluxe suite in the next 12 to 18 months - worth a shot, we are testing them next February and really looking forward to the exceptional service on offer.

Absolutely. Horses for courses. If P&O suits you and others that's fine. For the record I've actually never had any complaint about the service I've received while on a cruise and I've only ever booked a suite. However if I can get more 'perks' for booking a suite from another cruise company, I'm more than happy to pay their price. So we are all happy with what we want and receive. Isn't life wonderful.:D

And the most expensive cabins are far mor than those on P&O which is why they offer more. If they in fact do. Do you not get what you pay for.

Thank you for that information. I think that's the point I'm trying to make. Unfortunately people don't seem to understand quite what I'm getting at. Apart from P&O other companies offer a little extra to their suite passengers. I believe Celebrity offer varying amounts of loyalty points depending on the cabin you book. Why do P&O offer nothing.

You are quite correct. Celebrity offers far more. Yes, it is more expensive but, like you, we feel it is worth it.

We have sailed twice with Celebrity in a Royal Suite and have another 2 cruises booked for next year. After these 2 cruises we are already "Elite" level in their Captain's Club as we get, I think 12 points per night on board, compared with P&O 1 point.....

Also access to Michael's Club and the concierge, complimentary drinks and canapés each evening, all evening (if you wish), but there is also the premium drinks package included so you don't have to drink in there if you prefer another bar....

Also free wifi, laundry, unlimited speciality dining.....

Oh, and Luminae, the suite dining room for all meals, which is excellent quality. Bottle of champagne on embarkation, 2 x litre bottles of spirits plus complimentary wine. Escorted priority disembarkation by the Michael's Club concierge.....

I've probably missed some things. Absolutely top notch. Highly recommend. That's how to make you feel special!

I almost forgot, each time we've sailed with Celebrity we've been on board, champagne in hand, just after 10:30am! 🥂

I agree sounds far better than anything P&O can offer at the moment. But at £650 pppn as opposed to £250 pppn I would hope it was.

Found a cheaper cruise, Sep 19 Canaries 11 nights. Royal Suite. £604 pppn.

Of course other cruise lines are more expensive. I was comparing being in a suite to being in another grade of cabin on P&O. My point was that you really don't get much for the extra you pay. Our next cruise is in the Qgrill on Cunard. It's certainly costing more than P&O but I'm sure that for the money we are paying we will be getting a better experience for our money than if we'd booked a balcony cabin in Britannia class. As I said on P&O all you really get is a bigger cabin and a butler.

Which is all you pay for.

The only problem I have with Celebrity is that I prefer a smaller ship. I'm not saying P&O should give the same amount of perks just something extra. I like P&O for the itineraries but they should realise that not everyone is simply looking for a cheap deal.

P&O offer nothing to suite passengers regardless of how much they pay. We have done world cruises in the Penthouse suite on the Aurora paying £17000 more that the other suites. The last one it was £20,000 more. Can people really say that the fact we had more space was worth £20,000 more. I think other cruise lines seem to deliver better value for the money paid.

I think P&O could charge more for their suites and increase their perks offered to their guests and still be very competitively priced.

If nothing else they could give double loyalty points for staying in mini and full suites.

The 2 Penthouses on Aurora are the best suites in the fleet and we love them (Aurora is our favourite P&O ship so far) and your post has reminded me that I have seen prices advertised for one of these suites at the same (or even more) than a Royal Suite on Celebrity. So whilst it is true that P&O is predominantly much cheaper than lines offering more perks this is not always the case.

The RS is as impressive as the Piano Suite (in different ways) but the big balcony with hot tub probably means it slightly tops it, and the perks......

I highly recommend Celebrity, Pisces14. The Silhouette, which sails from Southampton is about the size of Ventura/Azura and as the higher end suites are midships everything feels close at hand....not sure why? So it doesn’t feel like a huge ship.

The hot tub on the balcony is more of a large jacuzzi bath really and on our first cruise I found it more an annoying waste of space than a luxury. However, on the cruise we did this summer the weather was gloriously hot and I filled the bath with tepid water - then it was fantastic - my very own "plunge pool" to dip in and out of while sunbathing on our own balcony. [emoji16]
