Family Moments Photo Package?

Anyone here ever purchase the "Family Moments" photo package? Curious if you get to pick the sizes of the 10 printed photos or if they are all 8x10 or all 5x7?

"Family Moments - Posing for a family portrait is a pleasurable experience with our talented team of photographers onboard. Take home 10 ready to frame prints as well as 10 digital files to share with your friends, family and on your favorite social network "

We were planning on buying the 100 for $99 package but that has jumped to $199 (sailing next week Oct 21).

Thanks in advance! :)

Update for anyone that is curious...

We did buy Family Moments package before the cruise. With the 100 photo package going up to $199 for our cruise for us it seemed the best bang for the buck for us for this cruise. If we were going with the kids, we probably would have opted for the 100 photo package.

How it worked for us is we could pick any 10 developed posed photos no matter the size. Some were 8x10 some were 11x13 (I think... didn't measure). Some they did up full color, some in B&W and some in other tones. Once we picked out our 10 on the final day of the cruise they had the DVD ready by 9PM to pick up that night.

Earlier in the cruise we were told we could have any of the ones we picked re-done in a different size or coloring option if we wanted. We were told later in the cruise that we had to pick from what was already developed. I am not sure if the second answer was because it was later in the cruise or if the first answer was wrong. Didn't matter to us since we were happy with what they had developed.

We could not pick from the boarding photo or dining room photos. Just the ones we posed for around the ship.

Also, there was no hard sell to upgrade our package. It was mentioned that they would work with us if we wanted to buy more then 10 but we were fine with the 10.

Also II, there is no release form given on paper or on the DVD so not sure if developing any of the photos will be possible or not.

We really enjoyed the photographers on this ship! Lot's of personality and talent. Also there were plenty of places to get photos taken but it didn't seem to overtake the ship like it has on some of our other cruises (Princess and Carnival).

For anyone curious here are the 10 we picked...

Lovely pictures. I see that there were 4 of you in one of them. My wife and I are going with our 2 daughters and our son-in-law. From your experience, would we buy one package and be able to have group poses of all 5 of us, poses of just my wife and I, poses of my daughter and her husband alone, and poses of my single daughter alone, within the one package? So long as we only choose a total of ten shots? We really don't care about candid stuff.

Also, did you pre-buy or did you buy your package on the ship?

Thanks so much.

Thanks! I am pretty sure the fine print on the package said it was someone in your cabin had to be in each photo you picked out (we had two cabins and both couples bought the package so we never asked/had to clarify that). So as long as someone in the cabin that bought the package is in each photo you won't have any issues. I have a feeling though that they didn't really care if you picked 10 no matter who was in each but not sure if I would bank on that. With that many people I'd probably not risk having to pay a higher price on board and get one for each cabin. They take some great photos and with just 4 of us it took forever to pick out just 20 photos. Might be really tough to just pick 10 with 5 people going! :)

We ordered it online before the cruise and they had our order written down at the photo desk. Just gave them our name and cabin number when picking up our photos.

Just wanted to clarify you are permitted to select any photo that has at least one person from the cabin which purchased the photo package . I guess that is more confusing!!!

Let me tell you how it worked for us. We sailed the Divina in July . Our family had 3 cabins total . I did not totally understand the package rules, and I pre-ordered the 100 pictures for $99. My cabin only had my husband and myself and there was no way on earth that we needed 100 pictures of just the two of us . The photo shop manager said we could choose any pictures so long as either my husband or I were in the shot (so family groups or any with our grandchildren and us ). I explained I didn't realize what I had ordered so he said to wait until the end of the cruise and we could make something work . Each evening we gathered all the photos of our group and they kept them in a folder for us. At weeks end we had close to 300 photos so the manager said rather than sorting through the large stack I could pay an additional $149 and take them all. So that's what we did. There was no way to go through them all there. In the end we had 294 pictures plus a disc with all the shots not printed for a total of $250 (less than a dollar a picture ). Each of the 3 families got lovely pictures for our homes and I do scrap booking so only a few ended up in a drawer.

We are all going on the Seaside in June so we are going with the smaller $59 for 10 pictures for each of the cabins with the grandchildren . I am assuming the same rules will apply to those packages .

Sorry this is so long , but I hope it is helpful .

Could you tell us if MSC has any lifestyle background for photo shoot? I'm an RCCL cruiser, and really enjoy taking pictures around their ship, especially they have set up many basic background to allow people to post casually, or funny informal posts. Different from the traditional ship/staircase background type formal pictures.

Do you happen to see any if these "lifestyle" background setup around the ship?

We are also contemplating in pre-purchase a 100 pictures package, but only if they offer the lifestyle informal post settings.

Thanks for any tips!

I'm not exactly sure what a lifestyle background is but they had a large selection of backdrops as well as the Crystal stairs, the solid white backdrop where they pose you on the floor, several different other solid colors with acrylic stools for group shots, and a few painted scenes . The photographers were very personable and patient and had lots of ideas for some unique shots. We were extremely pleased with the 294 photos we bought !

They will have a photographer take photos in locations you pick around the ship but there was a charge for the service. Sorry but I'm not sure how much and can't find a price in my daily planners. If I find it I'll post it here.

Also there were one guy we noticed that did not take photos just in front of a backdrop. He took photos of us outside on the promenade deck, inside near a railing w/ no back drop and one time on the promenade stairs but he ran upstairs to get photos from above. He was fun! Saw him a couple other times taking photos in front of some of the art pieces and once on the stairs in the casino. Always the same guy so maybe that was his thing?

We were never charged anything extra for photo sessions . They spent at least 20 min. with my grandchildren doing poses on the floor with the white backdrop and we got really professional looking photos . We never paid any service charge but I did tip the photographer when he spent a half hour doing a group shot with our family group of 9.

Late to this posting, but just adding some detail. I have just booked this for our April 2018 sailing on Seaside, and the package detail on my docs says "STUPOR - 10 high quality 25x35cm prints and digital files on CD."

That is 9.8 x 13.7 inches, but presumably one can downside (or worst case cut the photo down to fit an 8x10... or try an 11x14 frame.)

Currently priced at US$80, that is a heck of a deal for cruise ship photos.

I will leave the interpretation of the package code "STUPOR" to the reader.... :')

So is the boarding photo included in the package or not? Does the package (100 photo's) also include dinner photo's etc? I would like to have photo's around the ship...not posing...

I asked my TA before purchasing and she said boarding photo is included!!
