Bar Harbor -- Acadia Question

It looks like a great way to get around Acadia NP is to use the free shuttle -- Island Explorer.

Two questions please:

1. Has anyone used the shuttle?
   
2. How far from the tender point to the shuttle, and how best to get there?

I am not the expert on Bar Harbor, but have been there several times. I'm beginning to sound like the guy who stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, however, the shuttle leaves from the back side of the town square. When you get off the shuttle and leave the pier, you'll notice a street going up to the centre of town. (quite steep for the first block or so). Stay on that street until you reach the square. Turn right up toward the fire station, and the shuttle is right there on your left. I saw shuttle buses in every part of the island this summer.
