Cashing out OBC

We have some OBC, from Royal so non refundable. Can you still cash it out at the casino (I know there is a 5% charge)?

We have just got off a Celebrity cruise and they have changed the rules on this so you can’t do it. I don’t know if Royal have also changed or not.

Yes, you can still get cash advances at the casino on RC.

I couldn't on Serenade last February, they told me I had to go to the table and get chips.

Weird. :(

Like your saying: Really consistently inconsistent....RCI.

Still love that one!! :D

Were they special chips that had to be played and could not get cashed in?

The reason RCI charges you 5% to get cash from your credit card is the bank charges them a % of the transaction. But...

It may be different if they know you will probably use the cash at the table. I entered the Texas Holdem' tournament and used my seapass for the $100 entry fee and was not charged a 5% fee. Go figure?

Stupid me...I played them....and lost!! :eek::o

Now on 20/20 hindsight....I should have just played one chip and then

waltzed off to cash in the rest. :halo:

I think on some cruise line you get some sort of special chip that cannot be cashed in, and I was wondering if Royal was going that way.

No special chips, they are yours to do as you please, however I only get my chips from the pit critter, not sure what happens if you get them (or if you can even get them) from the cage!

Some ships are still giving cash while other ships are making you take chips but you should also have the option to take a voucher for the slots. Take the slot voucher, insert into any slot machine and then hit cash out and you will get a voucher that can be redeemed for cash. You don't actually need to place a bet.

You are not charged the 5% fee on any tournament entry fee, it's only if you get actual cash.

Hmmm...that I would not know....as I very rarely ever use the casino.

With my luck that is good for me, but not so good for RCI.;p

Yes, that’s what they have done on Celebrity now. You get promotional chips which you have to play. If you win you get normal chips which you can then cash in. But you have to play the promotional chips or get credit for the slots.

Seems like it's easier than to take the slots voucher and make one play, cash out and take the ticket back to the cashier.

No you can’t do that either. The machine knows how much promotional ‘cash’ you put in. So unless your winnings are more than that your balance goes back on your account as OBC.

RC will find a way to mess that up too.

Guess I have been lucky I have never had a problem getting money from the cashier. I usually do it on the first night and estimate how much I will have and the OBC have not posted yet, don't know if that makes a difference or not

That’s a thought and worth trying on Celebrity.

Your ticket is only for the amount you won, the rest of it stays on your card until you eventually gamble it, at least that's the way it works at a casino. I don't play slots on the ship. If they are going go give most of the money back after one spin, they are better off letting you pay the 5% at the window.

Correct, should have made my post clearer. I didn't get charged for the tournament.

RCI is willing to eat the Credit Card interchange fee if you gamble, but not if you want cash.

Difference is with the slots on Royal they only work on cash. They are not tied to your Seapass.
