Buying beer at the port for taking to the beach

Is there a carry out or liquor store within walking distance of the port? I'd like to fill a collapsible cooler for a day on the beach.

Second question, would there be a problem with BYOB to either Harbor Lights or Boatyard?

Hi, I can only speak for the Boatyard, they don't allow you to bring in your own food & drink.

There's a store in the port building that I think sells beer. No idea where you would get ice.....

I'm sure most of the beach bars like Boatyard would frown on it, and understandably so. They sell ice cold beer right there, is it really worth the trouble to save a few bucks?

You're probably right. I bought a collapsbile cooler for this trip months ago because I'm not used to going to beaches where they have bar service. I should have researched first. I can understand why they wouldn't want us bringing our own.

If you want to plant you towel and cooler in an undeveloped part of the beach (past Boatyard and Harbor Lights) you can enjoy a DIY beach day - but with no chair, umbrella or bathroom it might be a short and not so fun day. Spend $20 the Boatyard and enjoy a chair, umbrella, facilities, snorkel trip, "free drink" (try the shark bite ;) ) and taxi back to the port.
