Aix and Cassis, or Aix, or Cassis?

I'm looking at tours out of Marseille to Aix and Cassis. Some say they felt they did not have enough time in each on a combo tour. Would appreciate comments on this -- Aix alone, Cassis alone, or combo tour that gives us both? Thanks for any insight.

How much time do you have?

Are you deeply interested in history and architecture? If so, just Aix.

If you want just beach, boat trip to see the Calanques and a very relaxed day - Just Cassis.

If you want a little of each, then both. Aix is half-hour from Marseille. You can spend 3 hours there and be satisfied with the main sights.

Then go to Cassis for a couple of hours and maybe a little more if you want the boat trip. You can easily go to both and have two very different views of Provence. So how much time do you have?
