NCL Casino Program Questions

On my February Breakaway cruise (7-day), I paid a $400 "Admin Fee", but on my March Gem cruise (10-day), I paid a $250 "Admin Fee". So I can never figure it out LOL

booked a 'free' cruise from my local casino back in jan 2016.

admin fee = $200/person.

got another free cruise from my local casino last month (may).

I've been on about a dozen CAS cruises and the admin fee has always been per person. For a 7 day I've seen the admin fee go from 120 to 200 per person. Was the 250 possibly when you were solo? That might make sense for a 10 day.

Whatever they charge is really going toward the price of your cabin therefore not making it a free cruise. Royal caribbean and celebrity do not have these admin fees. I'm checking into Princess but I don't think they have it either. Other cruise lines you pay the port charges, taxes and gratuities when you get a "free cruise.".

Going on my "free" cruise and already I don't like NCL. The amount they want to upgrade to a balcony is crazy also. NCL cabins are so much smaller than other lines. I feel like I made a big mistake. Live and learn.

We paid 200 pp for a Caribbean OceanView 7 day we booked through CAS and I think that was in March when we booked it. I just hate when these fees keep rising:eek:

Our 10-day cruise next January cost $250 pp in fees (not port fees and taxes). It was booked earlier this year. That is through CAS directly and not a certificate.

We also booked through a certificate from our Indian casino last October for a cruise we took last month. Those fees were $185 pp plus $320 pp to upgrade to a balcony.

Can you tell us where cruise is going and how many days it is for?

It was for Alaska cruise. 7 days.

In December our admin fee was 190 pp for a 7 day Carib cruise. In mid March I booked another 7 day Carib cruise and fee had risen to 200 pp.

Have a 7 day Alaska cruise comp'd by CAS this September in a mini suite. Cost for cruise is 478pp (260 admin fee+218 taxes). Significantly less than $2349pp, the current price for a mini suite.

Of course this does not include insurance, 18% service fee on "free" choices or the DSC in either of the above two prices listed.

I obtained golden status mid march this year. I'm looking at booking a twenty night cruise that departs dubai near the end of march next year would i have golden status still ?

You should still be Golden at the start of the cruise which SHOULD carry you through until the end of your cruise but technically you will tier down on April 1st. The only thing that would worry me is the 3% download/marker fee, that gets removed at the end of the cruise because that gets calculated at the end.

I personally have never seen this question come up before so I would email CAS directly and ask them for clarification. I would be very specific in my question and list out each item (premium drinks, food credit, spa credit, 3% fee) I would bring a copy of their response to the ships casino host and also gently remind them a day or 2 before the end of the trip before they start calculating what they will be removing from your bill.

At the very least it would give you leverage if you get hit with the fees next year, you can always use the email & your final bill to get a refund from your credit card company.

Please let us know the outcome as I am now curious and it can make a difference on when I book future cruises.

I'd be interested in the response as well. My issue is similar in that I am sailing on 3/26/17 and the cruise ends after 4/1/17....will they actually split my play, or will it all count towards one year or the other...?

I got a response. Golden status will remain throughout the cruise. I asked about Specific perks. So i will take email printout with me. As for play i don't know.

I'd be surprised if they let you have it "both ways". IOW, if they give you the perks for the split months. They will counts points accumulated in April toward your year end (3/31/17). On the good side, maybe you would make VIP level:-)

One that isn't is that they may add part , or all, of your upgrade charge to the admin fee. You may not upgrade your cabin, but many do.

Since they have changed from NCF to ADMIN, there seems to be a bigger disparity in the fees.

You pay an Admin Fee of 200 per person and Taxes/Port fees. Years ago the admin fee was 160, then 180, then 190....and recently increased to 200.

I see what you mean! We are cruising 4 or 5 times a year now (since retirement) and our fees have been consistent for Caribbean and Mexican Riviera, but we haven't cruised to Alaska or Europe. My son has been going on CAS cruises to Caribbean and his fees have matched ours booked during the same time-period. The one type we did an upgrade it did show up as a separate line item, not as part of admin fee. I guess best advice we can give anyone is just call CAS and check on the particular cruise or cruises you are interested it.

Probably best. This first was a res'v I made a few months ago for Escape. The second one was made a few months prior for a 13 day TA. Comparable cabins. No rhyme or reason that I can see!

Im using my free inside cabin certificate. I did not like booking with "casinos at sea" . Im not really getting a free cruise at all. Paid a pretty penny to upgrade. Waited forever for an agent....... Booking directly with ncl is so much friendlier and it pretty much equals out in price esp with the free at sea promos.

You are replying to a posting from June 2016. Not sure exactly what you are saying,,,, you would have got the Free at Sea promos with the casino certificate,,, paying only for port fees and admin fee.
