Disembarking in Rome

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me the time that the Jewel of the Seas allows disembarking to begin once returning to Civitavecchia? My husband and I have an 11:45 flight out of FCO to Canada and we were just wondering how much time to allow ourselves and what time we should arrange the shuttle for.

Thanks very much

Can't speak for Jewel, but we debarked Rome off of Rhapsody in 2015. We were off the ship by 7 am and at the airport by around 8 or 8:15. We did not "self disembark." We had a flight around 10:50 as I remember and had no problem. We did have a private transfer standing by which was critical, and as D+ we had the Concierge escort us down. Again, that was in 2015, but plan to get off as early as possible and you shouldn't have any real problem.

That’s a relief. I have an 11 am flight booked w/ air2sea (choice air?) and an RCI transfer from the ship back to the airport in Rome which seems a bit tight to me, but the RCI person who booked it said it would be fine.

You probably dock at 6am or earlier, should be no problem.

We have a 10:30 flight out of FCO also so hoping it all works out. Booked a private transfer for 7am pick up,

I have disembarked twice from there and it's the easiest ever. Both of our cruises from there had people embarking from Rome and Barcelona so that helped and we hired a private driver. There was only one flight per day so we opted to stay an additional night in Rome but I think we could probably have made the flight. We just didn't want to stress and the idea of missing the flight because of a wreck on the highway or a piece of lost luggage (we didn't self-embark) was too much for us to think about...or maybe it was the idea of getting ONE MORE DAY in Rome.
