Ventures Kayaking

For any of those that may have been on one of the Ventures kayaking excursions, are the kayaks all doubles? And if so, can you still sign up as a single, that is, will they match up singles to kayak together? It seems reasonable to me that they would do this, since sometimes only the husband (or maybe only the wife) wants to kayak, so I am thinking that there may be several "singles" signed up.

Yes and yes. ;p

All the guest kayaks are doubles. The Venture guides are in singles. Single guests will be put together, and in Alaska last summer, the only single on one trip was paired in a kayak with another Ventures team member.

They tend to have staff members on a waitlist who will come to join any spare singles. They love doing this!

Thank you! I thought they must try to match up singles. Are the kayaking trips nice, and not too difficult? I am only used to flat water kayaking.

I’d never kayaked before. So Antarctica was a challenging place to start. Needless to say my husband and I were both useless but they always had someone at the back and we felt supported. We enjoyed it and booked again and it’s not cheap! They won’t go unless it’s quite calm. The main difficulty in Antarctica is manoeuvring around the growlers, icebergs and brah ice.
