Solo on Silversea Wind

I am on the Wind April 6-20 from FLL to Barcelona. I was on the Spirit in 2016 and joined a group of three lovely ladies as their male keeper. It was great. I would love to recreate that experience but am unsure just how to proceed. Any suggestions?

I am not quite sure you are asking:eek: but why don't you start a roll call for the cruise and see if anyone responds that way?

A male keeper?

Solitary,

It's not uncommon for Silversea roll calls to not get many replies, as the ships are small and most guest do not visit CruiseCritic. Just make a point of attending the singles gatherings and I'm sure you'll meet any ladies interested in acquiring a "keeper". I'm not quite sure how I would feel about that personally, but best of luck.

Hi Solitarycruiser,

I've just returned from the Wind and can tell you a bit about what to expect. On your first night aboard, you will be invited to a Solo gathering, probably around 7:00 in the Panorama Lounge. It will be nominally organized by one of the international hostesses -- if it is still Sofia and Jenny, they are both delightful people. After the first night, there will always be a space for the solos to gather before dinner. Sometimes that gathering will be hosted, but other nights it is just a place-holder for solos to find one another.

We had at least a dozen solos on my cruise, of varying ages. Most nights, it seemed that if folks didn't have a speciality venue reservation, the solos headed down to the MDR together. After that first night, we found each other on excursions, in the early mornings on the observation deck, and all around the ship. In my experience, SS makes solo traveling easy and welcoming.

I'm still creeped out by your whole "male keeper" thing, and I don't think I met anyone on my cruise who would want one. The gender balance among the solos was close to 50/50, but in your male keeper scenario, those women wouldn't have gone to the solo gathering. My advice: just go, be as open-minded as you are, and enjoy meeting new friends. But stay quiet on the male keeper thing -- if a group of women want to adopt you, they'll probably find you.
