cinnamon Posted June 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2015 We were in Santorini yesterday on Rhapsody OTS and the boats to Oia were running, just as they had been in 2012. I have written about it on my blog 'Not Quite Live from Rhapsody 12th June' on the main RCCL BOARD.
LEtue Posted June 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2015 That is great news. I wonder if this means it will be available in 2016 too. I hope!

Travel To Be Free Posted June 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2015 Our ship is in at 7. What time do they start running? His long to get a full boat? How long of a ride to Oia? This is great news!!!
cinnamon Posted June 18, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted June 18, 2015 In theory it it 12 minutes to Oia but there was so much marine traffic we waited an extra 20 minutes to dock. We saw a boat leave at 8.45, just missed it.

Rare Gourmet Gal Posted June 18, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2015 Are these boats simple water taxis or is there a schedule posted online? Does anyone know how late they run from Oia back to Fira? We are hoping to end our day in Oia and then go back to Fira to catch our tender. This could be a nice way to avoid the tram.
conbon78 Posted June 18, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2015 We wished we had done the boats to Oia! Definitely will next time. Only 8e

Last I heard, the boat company provided a bus that took you back to Fira and everyone took the cable car/mules/walk down from there. Someone reported that there was about an hour and a half in Oia before the bus left, although I'm not sure if there were buses before and after that time. I assume the buses run on a schedule of sorts. Cinnamon, thanks for reporting on the boat. Glad to hear it's back.
Travel To Be Free Posted June 19, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 19, 2015 How much for the boat? On Celebrity if we're in at 7, I'm sure they take the tours first. What would be a good estimate of a time we arrive at the docks?
fabrome Posted June 19, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 19, 2015 Just keep in mind that only a few very lucky passengers can joinit, as the port police allows only a limited number of passengers daily on these boats

cinnamon Posted June 19, 2015 Author #13 Share Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) They were packed a couple of days ago. No police in sight. Don't believe the post above. Edited June 19, 2015 by cinnamon
fabrome Posted June 19, 2015 #14 Share Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) We were told that if there are many ships in port with thousands of tourists on them ,these boats couldn't carry all the passengers to Oia.The port police gives advice on how many passengers they should carry daily.I didn't tell you the police was there dear cinammon!Maybe the ship crew told us this in order to buy their shore excursion.I believe I have to inform in case it exists such a thing! roothy123 Posted June 19, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 19, 2015 Well, I guess only time will tell what the situation is, so if others go to Santorini and try to take the boat, it would be great if they could report back here so future travelers can be aware! roothy123 Posted June 19, 2015 #17 Share Posted June 19, 2015 By the way, if anyone's interested in finding out how many ships and cruisers will be anchored on a given day, I found this: http://www.santorini-boatmenunion.com/images/cruiseship.pdf Unfortunately, it only lists a month at a time, but at least it's probably more accurate than the schedules in the "Ports" section of cruisett.com, as cruise schedules seem to change a bit from the time. Marley-Bop Posted June 24, 2015 #18 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Hi Cinnamon Many thanks for the update, thats great news :D Does anyone know if the boats run all day please? cinnamon Posted June 24, 2015 Author #19 Share Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Angie, they gave me a leaflet with that website address. boatmensunionsantorini. You could check there but when we went the return buses were stopping at 13.00. Or try emailing boatmen@otenet.gr The office staff on the dock spoke good English. hylasgirl Posted June 30, 2015 #21 Share Posted June 30, 2015 Why would anyone get on a boat if they are overloading them? This looks like a disaster waiting to happen to me.

Madonnafan1 Posted July 4, 2015 #24 Share Posted July 4, 2015 Hi all... Travelling to Santorini first week in Aug. Splendour OTS. Coming in with my 10yr old daughter...so I don't want to make a mistake. Is this boat close to the ships tender dock so we can walk over for the tender to Oia? Can anyone tell me what marker to look for. Just a little nervous with my little girl and would rather not wait for cable car. We would plan to take the local bus back to Fira because we want to spend most of the day in Oia. Been before but want to show my daughter the beauty of the place! Thanks! The store that sells tickets for the boat to Oia is right there when you get off the tender. The fare is €20 per person and includes a shuttle when you get off the boat, up the road from Amoudi Bay into Oia. It also includes the bus trip back to Fira, which departs Oia every hour.
